Is drafting a new QB preventing the team from fixing the OL?
I don't understand the correlation
It’s pretty logical. You’re either obtuse or just argumentative. You could put in 2007 Tom Brady behind the 2023 NYG OL and the offense would suck. They need to fix the OL.

So- Giants have Jones and now Devito showed he may be able to play in this league- what they need to do now- do everything possible to get as many 1/2 round OL as is possible.

That strategy has not worked. What they need is a cohesive unit that works in unison and is well coached. Thing that hurt the Giants was all the injuries and that their cap situation prevented building proper and effective depth on the O-Line. Justin Pugh off the couch to starter.....need we say more.

Thomas....Pick #4
Neal....Pick #7
Schmitz....2nd Round (#57)
Ezeudu....3rd Round
Peart .....3rd Round
Bredeson....4th round

Honorable Mention...

Erick Flowers.....Pick #9
Will Hernandez,....Pick #34

Yes it is pretty logical.
You draft a QB AND fix the OL.
Nobody ever daid they didn't need to fix the OL.

It's pretty obtuse to assume you can't draft a QB until you fix the OL.
As if they are mutually exclusive endeavors.

They may play themselves out of a top QB draft. If that is the case- get your OL and make it through next year with Jones

That seems to be exactly what's happening now.

I haven't been able to watch the last two weeks but I'm assuming Devito isn't a long term option at QB?

I don’t think so but he may have just given himself a nice 10 year career as backup. Best gig in the world…
I would think they would still like to see what Jones can do with protection and weapons

They need to move on from Jones already. It'll be year 6 we know exactly what he is. Heck Devito a UDFA at least gets the ball down field or attempts to more than Jones. Jones can't process quick enough and locks down on one WR. That's not changing.

The Giants need to seriously upgrade their O-line.... starting with using their 1st round pick on one of the elite OTs available in the upcoming draft. And getting some other help for the line with some of their later picks. And through free agency.
If the failure to succeed in doing so in previous drafts is an argument against doing so this time then the drafting of QB Jones is a good argument against drafting another QB this time as well.
Besides, didn't the Giants just sign Jones to a big 4-year contract ?
BTW, I don't know what some people think they see in DeVito.

They do need to upgrade the OL but I doubt they go T again in the 1st. Didn't sound today like Schoen was ready to move Neal to G just yet.

Yes he signed a 4 year deal with an out after 2 years.

Devito is arguably playing better than the starting QB with the same cast of characters. As Yes mentioned earlier he's played himself into being a backup QB in the league which is a good gig. He also has brought energy to the team than Jones lacks.

And an added benefit, he's in the 1st year of an UDFA contract.

The one high OL pick that this current staff and front office made was Schmitz, and he was looking good before his injury. Need a DT (Trade/FA replacement) an OT and an OG early.

For the record they also drafted Evan Neal at 7 overall.

They sound like idiots. His head and foot were over the line and body was in the neutral zone, it wasn't even a close call. Awesome move getting rid of Toney.

Mahomes was saying the refs could have just given a warning but ref was saying Toney was so far out they couldn't even see the ball

“Yes, ultimately, if they look for alignment advice, certainly we are going to give it to them. But ultimately, they are responsible for wherever they line up,” Cheffers said. “And, certainly, no warning is required, especially if they are lined up so far offsides where they’re actually blocking our view of the ball.

“So, we would give them some sort of warning if it was anywhere close, but this particular one is beyond warning,” Cheffers continued. "

If I was head of the officials, I would give out an edict to no longer give line up advice. It's not a hard concept to line up on sides.

I've been wondering if Mahomes wasn't specifically helped by refs in the past because of his star status. He seemed used to idea of getting warnings and I never heard other QBs mention that sort of advice
