Not only are we going to New Hampshire ... we're going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we're going to California and Texas and New York! And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan. And then we're going to Washington, D.C. to take back the White House, Yeeeeeaaaaaargh!

Those dk-heds think there's something special about Ga Tech

And that it's a better engineering school than our Redneck Tech.

Not. Our guys are the best.

I've lived in Rocket City USA for 40 years amongst actual rocket scientists.
There's a reason this place is flooded with MSU grads.
Geek town; geek grads.

No doubt. I imagine MSU is a lot cheaper too.

Other than the RocketCityDawg rankings, can you find one objective measure to support that?

That guy will make a helluva soda jerk at Starbucks. That pan to the student body was all I needed to thank the Heavens I didn't go to GA Tech. 8-1 men, and all of them geeks.

I hope he finished his speech in time to get a good spot in line at the Apple store for the next iPhone release or maybe for the premiere of the next "Star Wars" movie, where he plans to dress as Princess Leia.

2. Ohio State University (918.19)
3. University of Waterloo (859.11)
4. Virginia Tech (854.85)
5. University of Washington (815.60)
6. University of Tennessee, Knoxville (764.48)
7. University of Victoria (749.24)
8. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (726.82)
9. Penn State University (696.48)
10. Purdue University (664.42)
11. Colorado State University (559.38)
12. Wayne State University (529.25)
13. California State University, LA (411.11)
14. Rose Hulman Institute of Technology (384.63)
15. North Carolina State University (329.82)

GT is not on this list because they did not make the cut of the top 15 to participate.
GT grads probably make better professors and maybe scientists, but MSU grads make much better automotive and rocket engineers. That's what happens when you teach a farmer engineering.

you guys can rag him but I thought it was great.

I mean you cant seriously rag him for his speech and being goofy because you cant compare it to regular speech. compare to other welcome speeches at college. that one would've been thoroughly entertaining compared to 95% of them.

he should've thrown in a mike drop and not spoken again after the climax though

however, you can rag those bastards over those stupid *** hats

I'd love for you to be right, but EcoCar domination aside, the major ranking systems out there say they are a better school than we are. I get it though. I can promise you Auburn engineers feel the same way about the GT program. They also feel like they are better than State.

Here's my beef with GaTech:

At the SECON robotics competition they carry themselves with an air of superiority, wearing lab coats and ****. They are the douchebaggiest group there. They hate hate hate hate Mississippi State since that is a competition we traditionally do very well in. How dare a bunch of rednecks from MSU think they can challenge the almighty Georgia Institute of Technology?!

Since I've graduated I've only worked with one Ga Tech grad and he was the real deal, and as such he did not feel the need to act like a total dick and constantly point out that he graduated from Tech.

Oh I know. And they truthfully get students with much better incoming test scores and GPAs. And they publish more and have better overall professors. However I firmly believe MSU engineers posses a rare blend of engineering knowledge and common sense, which makes them better suited for some applied fields.
In terms of rankings... look for that to start changing, bigtime. The brand new dean of engineering has made it his #1 priority to move up the rankings, and things are already changing.

Academic Year 2013-2014. Factor in that most in-state Tech students get Hope which pays 80% or Zell Miller which pays 100% of the tuition and Ga Tech is cheaper. HS GPA of 3.7 = Zell Miller, GPA 3.0 = Hope. Maintain same GPA at Tech after every 30 hours and you keep it. Believe me it comes in handy!
