What time is kickoff for Washington - Michigan?
The actual broadcast starts at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT, but the game will kick off at 7:45 p.m ET/4:45 p.m. PT.The actual kickoff, following the pregame festivities including a national anthem performance by Fantasia, will take place at 7:45 p.m., according to the NCAA
I would be very surprised if the game kickoff is before 8:00 pm ET. I don’t remember the NC game ever starting before 8:00 pm ET or before 5:00 pm PT.
Agree with you. It would be only 5:00 in Seattle if the game started at 8:00 EST. Very dumb to start this early with a west coast team playing on a normal work day. But then again, it was also not smart to start the Texas-Washington game (and Michigan-Alabam) as late as they were on a National holiday.
Those were the same start times for the Rose and Sugar Bowls as has been for many years. Since I was a kid and Bo Schembecler and Woody Hayes and John McKay were still bringing their teams to the Rose Bowl.

This being a title game with all the extra ceremonies/halftime etc., you start at 9PM and it will go to 12:30-1 AM on the East Coast. You'll lose a lot of people who work the next day at halftime or at the end of the 3rd qtr,
Not about whatever Rece Davis did, whomever that is. Embarrassed that one of the competitors in the NCAA CFB championship cheated to get there and was allowed to participate. It taints the entire thing, IMO.
If UM's cheating took place this season, and my understanding was that it did, then how does that NOT help them get to the championship game? They should've been banned from postseason play this season.

At least at a quick glance, that seemed like it was much ado over nothing, although perhaps I'm misunderstanding. Anyway, it's off-topic and more a CE board debate kind of thing. Just wanted to clarify that's not what I meant and I didn't even know about it until just now.
I do. I don't hate UM or anything. Just think cheating like that really sucks and feel that the punishment was laughable and allowing UM to participate in the off-season has been embarrassing for the NCAA and Big Ten.

I wasn't planning on watching it anyway - 'cause I have little interest if RU isn't playing. But think about how tainted and cynical a UM win would be.
Every team should basically flood the other teams' stadiums with spies who record their upcoming opponents signals. The teams can all just name fake coaches who get banned while the HC (named an assistant) handles the actual coaching duties during the 3-game (or whatever) punishment.
Yes. As was the Orange, Sugar, Cotton and later the Fiesta. Orange and Cotton were usually up against each other, followed by the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl.
I definitely remember the fiesta bowl at night sometimes a while back.

probably because they beat the living hell out of every team after it was announced, and so far the NCAA has only come back with evidence of a staffer at a low level paying some students to use phones to video signals, which Dave Portnoy was glad to post wads of it for free right after showing how easy it is to get it from anyone (there is still some discussion if a non paid student is even a violation in the stands, the rule was meant to not put video cameras on the sideline). They all do it, and if we want embarrassment, supposedly there is a ring of sign stealers at several schools, and lo and behold, we are one of them, and they trade the signs on sundays, with OSU being another (shocking state penn was considered a low level stealer, but then Franklin is pure dumb). They also it seems were on the opposite end, Michigan, with their signs being given to Purdue last year, again with us supposedly involved and OSU. Proof? who knows, but what has been given out as real news, not fake, is that the NCAA has come out and said so far they have no indications the staff was involved. One coach was fired because he talked about the investigation, Chris partridge, not because he participated in stealing. If you don't believe me, check on it, but it's my understanding at this stage the unprecedented and expedited investigation is about as big as the NCAA going after them for buying a kid a cheeseburger when he showed up on a non official visit. And if Harbaugh keeps pushing for kids to get a cut of the NCAA revenue pile, you can bet the little nit picking will never stop, ever, until he's in the NFL.
It isn't really in doubt that Stallions broke some rules by being on the CMU sidelines.
Where fans (IMO) go off the rails is thinking this is some major crime that merits the death penalty. Especially when teams get better info from other teams. When a Baylor coach got caught doing this, the punishment was a one game suspension for the coach involved.
I think it's awesome. I hate the game starting at 9pm EST on a Monday night. I never watch more than half the game. It's not a big deal to start it at 7pm or 8pm latest. Hope they are actually doing that this year.
But you know if UM is doing it then so are others. It is just that they got sloppy.
Just like we know Belichick cheated (and likely others) and the Astros and refs and players.. on and on.. I'd be shocked if cheating is not at an all-time high as people routinely choose greed over honor as if it is only to get what they "deserve". Heck.. NIL just made "legal" what many schools were already doing.

Most coaches didn't care and thought is was silly.
Same for the early season suspensions from buying recruits burgers and assorted trifles

If UM had tanked at the end of the season when the Stalions stuff came out, I think it would have lent more credence to how much it made a difference. Beating PSU, OSU and madhandling Alabama for much of that game probably quells any issue with regards to that stuff.
Hopefully, next year it won’t matter because CFB will finally come out of the dark ages and use technology to eliminate such issues.

It will indeed be embarrassing if Michigan wins it all. Definitely an asterisk.
I get that there is no interest in competing with the NFL for eyeballs. But the flip side is that it does kill your east coast interest. There is no way I'm staying up past halftime to watch this game. So why even tune in at all? I'll just watch the highlights in the morning.

I love the responses here and the justifications on why it was ok for Michigan to cheat or why it is ok to look the other way. This parallels how society operates these days. Loosen the enforcement of rules and the responsibility of abiding by said rules goes in the toilet. But it's ok...everybody does it.
