Sorry I should have read the question all the way through before answering. I was only 3 at the time, so Brickey was just an educated guess. I'm familiar with most of the players on both rosters... I'll shoot for the stars and say Jeff Lebo.

Another hint on the two remaining coaches in question. One of these guys coached against Bubas in the NCAA Tournament.
lol I wrote Jeff Lebo without realizing hartochesson had already given the second half of the answer (4 minutes apart). I was purely guessing...
And yep Brickey skied and stuffed Lebo's jumper!!! 70-69, Devils....(an altogether SWEETER WIN, as it marked our first win at Chapel Hill since the Bubas years!)

Spanarkel's 2,000 points can easily be overlooked as two of his younger teammates, Gminski and Banks, both quickly passed up Spanarkel on the all-time scoring list in the subsequent years of 1980 and 1981. Heyman would have reached the 2,000 barrier (finished with 1984 points) had he not missed a few games in 1961 - I'm thinking he was suspended after his altercation with Larry Brown.
Heyman was indeed suspended after the Brown fight.
And Groat was suspended for the second semester of his sophomore season. Plagiarism.
Spanarkel got his 2,000 in the St. John's loss in 1979, his last game. Another reason it didn't get a lot of attention.
Ok here goes. harttochesson you should get this. One of the most famous and exciting wins came on the shoe string play in 1969. Wes Chesson took a pass when Duke used a trick play now referred to as the shoe string play to win the game.

You guys are fast. I think the reason is because he was in the military. He really helped us at the time. Duke was pretty down at the time. Good on the boards. He played with Willie Hodge who was a very good player. Tickets were easier to get then and got to see him play some. OFC
Buckin', Sky I loved those guys- Hodge, Moses, Fleischer,etc....and yes Sky - George was a heckuva rebounder....
