Billy Bryan. OFC
Sky I almost stated that you would be ineligible for this one.
I guess Billy is still a businessman in Burlington huh?
You're up buddy.
I knew you would get that one easy.
I remember the sporting goods store when I was at Elon. I don't recall if I ever met Billy or not, its been a while....
And by the way, have you seen Dickie Mills anytime recently?
I couldn't miss this one. Billy is a friend of mine. I used to go by the family sporting goods a lot. Billy worked there the during the summer even after going with the Broncos. So down to earth that you forgot he was an All-American football player and a NFL player. He was always messing around and kidding with anyone. After football he went to work for the FBI. His brother Curry told me he was in on some big time white-collar bust that had scammed a lot of people out of investments back in the 90's. I haven't seen Billy in a while and understand he has retired from the FBI now. Truly if you ever met him you would think he's just your run of the mill everyday Duke fan. His brother Curry is a face book friend but I never have thought about to check to see if Billy is on face book. OFC
Oh. OK. I got confused. Nothing new.The question is waiting for an answer.OFC
Now that I figured out what the question was, I'll come up with what is probably a wrong answer. The only other catcher I can recall from that era was Jerry Narron. Not exactly a hall-of-famer.
In 1967 Duke's baseball coach died suddenly. The Athletic Director reached out to one gentleman, who declined the position but who recommended someone else. That "someone else" took the job as baseball coach. Three part question:
a) who was the Athletic Director?
b) who was the AD's first choice?
c) who got the job?

Country Slaughter succeeded the coach in question. (To me, that was not a great hire, since Enos was famous for trying to hurt Jackie Robinson). So it goes.I have no idea but I'm guessing that Enos Slaughter falls in there somewhere. OFC
Oh yeah! You're up (again), hart.Dick Groat
Tom Butters
OFC
I'm going to guess Larry Davis, but the rest eludes me.Thx Will!! Who did Leo Hart start in place of his very first game as Duke qb? Who did we play and defeat??
OFC
Did he demonstrate his one-arm, extension, fingertip push-ups? I still think it's physically impossible, even though I saw it with my own eyes. Did you also know he beat Ted Kluszewski in arm wrestling?Tom Butters was my P.E. instructor in 1968.
How cool was that?
