Tell them that you need to come to court because you were not speeding but that on your scheduled court date, you will be out of town on business. The week before the new court date, do the same thing. Do this as many times as they will let you.
I strung one out for over a year in Lexington MS a couple years back by doing this and then when I finally got to court, the cop was there, i was the last person to get on the stand, I pleaded my case, they dismissed both charges. Speed and Tint. Not that it matters but I was the only person of caucasion decent in the entire room and I was the only person that got any sort of leiniency from the Judge. I found that interesting because I almost expected a reverse racism thing to happen.
Tint ticket was easy to get out of. Even though it was illegal for MS, I explained it away with company car, another state, different levels allowed, yada yada yada, dismissed.
Speed was a little harder because he had an audio tape of me asking him to write the ticket for less if he could at the time of the scene. But I also said that I didn't think that I was speeding at all but I understood that his gun said otherwise, yada yada yada, appealed to their sense of authority, apologized, didn't want ticket on record because I drive a lot, company would be mad, so long ago memory unsure - Dismissed. Saved myself almost $400.00.
Since then - I just pay the thing.
