Had a couple in Jackson, one on the deck a day or two ago, one by the back door yesterday. Must still be waking up here, couldn’t get them to buzz, dogs just sniffed and went on their way. Looking forward to the serenade.

Yes, they are here in Columbus. Arrived a few days ago. For you fishermen, many years ago we had a big hatch like this year and toward the end of the cycle we we had hooks out in the river that weekend. Thousands of cicadas were falling in the river and fluttering on the surface and the fish went crazy. Even the catfish were feeding on the surface. We removed the weights from our trot lines, floated them baited with cicadas we scooped up, and caught more fish of all kinds than you can imagine. So if you fish, be aware that you many have a very unique opportunity in 3-4 weeks.

You can get isolated pockets outside those counties. I would say anything contiguous to the shaded counties could easily have some.
Certainly makes sense. I'm wondering with sitings in Clinton and southern Madison County if this might be a sign their range is growing.

Yeah, we’ve got cicadas. Last night I heard the first wipoorils this year, too. Love hearing those things-but my dogs hate ‘em…..

Stopped by my in-laws in Mathiston yesterday, soon as I turned the car off I noticed them roaring. Really loud, kinda like what you’d hear if a large industrial pump or fan was blowing a 1/4-1/2 mile away. Driving up hwy15 I could hear patches of them over the radio with the windows up, a little north of Maben. But then driving up the trace to Tupelo didn’t really hear much

10's of thousands around Noxapater. So loud it will give you a headache. Won't have to run a plugger this year, holes everywhere. Saw several huge toads the last few evenings, so they must be feasting.
