I lost 82 pounds. I'd recommend it for anyone.
Just about everyone I know who has used one of those shake systems (myself included) puts the weight back on as soon as they quit using them. Want to lose weight and keep it off? Get the my fitness pal app for your phone and actually use it. Takes 5 minutes a day. You don't even have to "diet", just use it, I promise, if you use it, you'll change the way you eat and eventually you'll lose weight. Once you start seeing how many calories are in all the crap you eat/drink you'll know exactly why you're over-weight or at least I did.
Only post that needs to be read in the thread. Discipline goes a loooong way.
Through a complicated plan of exercising more and eating less. I now take my dog for a walk a few times a week, and work short sprints into my walk. And I leave food on my plate, I don't eat everything. Occasionally I'll have cereal for dinner or something, but otherwise I haven't changed much. I'm 5lbs from high school weight, and lost 8" on my waist. Triglycerides cut in half, bad cholesterol down, good up, etc.
still eat out at Mexican/Pizza/etc now and then
always eating breakfast
This is overlooked way too often. Most don't understand how much of a kick-start your metabolism gets from just eating a good breakfast.

I didn't think it was a big deal until I started doing it consistently. I felt better and didn't devour everything in sight when lunchtime hit.
A bodybuilder told me to taper my meals. If you stick to three a day, then make breakfast the biggest and dinner the smallest.
On that note, you will have a HOLY **** moment if you look to see how many calories are in the chips at a normal Mexican restaurant.
This is correct... ^
"take in less calories that what you use everyday"
This is wrong ^
If you plan on losing weight and keeping it off then you have to prepare your metabolism and meals accordingly. By eating less calories your going to shut down your metabolism and gain weight if not stay the same. I'm getting ready to begin the Advocare challenge. I think the benefits behind it vs other diets is it promotes just what I've said. Eating more and boosting your metabolosim.

The thing that stick out to me was the sodium. When I lost 30 a couple of years ago I went heavy on the low fat turkey sandwiches for dinner to keep calories and fat down. But lunch meat is filled with sodium as is everything else I seem to eat. Of course a sedentary job is a killer for me. Before I got married, I lost 50 pounds in 5 months just by switching from dr pepper to diet dr pepper because I worked at Splash N Dash and was very active, but chugged at least 3 Route 44 Dr peppers a day from Sonic. That was 1800 calories a day that went away just by the switch which equated to about a pound every 2 days (3500 calories = a pound). Now I don't intake any calories via liquids, but my activity level is so much lower at a white collar job so I stay fat.Absolutely. Am using that too right now.
