I think people gravitate towards it because of the clean bathrooms and they actually pay their employees well so they get great customer service.

It is less depressing than going somewhere that the bathroom smells like every trucker just pissed in the floor for about a week and the person behind the counter looks like they are saving up for that 9 mm ammo to end it all.

It's astounding to me that, 5-10 years after it became a national phenomenon, people are still so deeply invested in Buccee's. You just never really know what's going to be a hit.

Somewhere, the founder of Double Quick sits around all day looking like this:

FIFY... Buc-ee's has been a hit in TX since they opened their first store in 1982 in Clute. Expansion outside of TX started in 2018.

Given that there's a "normal" sized Buc-ee's (8 pumps, I think) just down the road from my house, I find it fascinating that people outside of TX only know them for their "Mega" locations. Yes, we always stop at Buc-ee's when we're travelling.

Definitely nice restrooms, but if I really had to go, spending 10 minutes to get a parking spot just isn't in the cards And also agree they have good folks but like, I can buy a snack and a coke from most any ol' body.

I've been to probably 10 different Buc-ee's--and used to leave my car at the one in Baytown to meet up with folks from work to go refinery client hopping--and never once had a single issue parking. You're doing something very wrong if you are having those problems.

Buc-ee's is not the best place for a road trip shít. You sir need to introduce yourself to a hotel lobby bathroom. I prefer upper midlevel chains like an Embassy Suites or Courtyard by Marriott. You walk in like you own the place, grab a copy of the Wall Street Journal or USA Today and go take care of business in a private and secluded space that is cleaned just for you everyday, because everyone else uses their private bathroom.

If you time it right in the afternoon, you can get yourself a warm Otis Spunkmeyer cookie for your troubles on the way out. If you time it perfectly, you can get the cookie on your way in... Yes, I have eaten a cookie will taking a dump. And on the way out you can get a free cold beer they have on ice for arriving guests. Now if Buc-ees has started giving you the WSJ, a private bathroom, a warm oatmeal raisin cookie, and a free beer for stopping in to take a shít, I stand corrected.

When I used to travel for work, I did this regularly. (Not the part about eating a cooking while drooping a number 2).

Am I the only one that thinks eating a cookie while taking a dump is a bit disturbing? Personal preference and all I guess, at the same time I don't understand why people talk on their phone on the pot, but to each his own.

Yes, before I discovered the magic of psyllium husks, I periodically had to drop a load on the road. Hotels were my go to. One morning on the way to work I couldn't hold it any longer so I had to hit the Quality Inn off Treetops in Flowood. Mr. Haji man wasn't happy, I think he threw his shoe at me when I was hurriedly exiting the premises.

We drove to South Padre a couple of years ago, and I don't remember the town, but there was a normal superette-sized Bucc-ee's on a small highway. I hadn't known those existed until then, but it made me wonder whether they'd start opening those to compete with QTs.

What's the sewer requirements for one of these places? I imagine it's more than usual.

In the Houston area, it seems like QT is opening bigger stations to try to compete with Buc-ee’s. Probably not the best strategy.

Ahh, a man of distinction. I may or may not, live next to several hotels. I may or may not, enjoy a dump at a hotel chain in the mornings then enjoy a fine 2* breakfast.
