Any of you Packers have any experience with radar detectors? A recent job change has me commuting a little over 50 miles each way to work. There may be times when the posted speed limit is too slow. Part of my commute is on the Natchez Trace, then state highways and a brief passing through an urban area. Which models do a good job? Which models to avoid? As always, humor and wit encouraged, dumbassery is to be avoided.

Valentine is the best hands down.

No matter what you get you have to know how to use it. Remember to use it as a radar detector and not an early ticket indicator. It is intended to catch cops radaring other cars. If traffic is light, it is worthless.

I have owned a Valentine V1 for over 5 years and it has basically been printing money for me. The directional arrows are the only way to go. Anything else is just a noise maker. No detector is any good vs instant on though so don't speed unless you have a little bit of traffic in front of you.

This. I don't own a radar detector but if I did it would no doubt be a Valentine. They are far and away the best one on the market.

Whatever you decide on, hide it when you leave the vehicle unattended.

They get the attention of crooks pretty quick since you can spot them easily. My dumb *** left mine out one night when I was parked on a street. That was a cold ride to work the next day....

I travel all over N. MS daily. I have a refurb Escort that works pretty good. No detector will save your *** if you don't know how to use it. On the trace or any other highway hang back about a 1/4 to 1/2 mile behind someone else that is hauling ***. If your running solo on the trace doing 70 you will be toast with any detector because they will instant on radar you and no detector will pick it up until it's too late.

If your on a budget you can get a refurb escort direct from escort on ebay with warranty, case, all the accessories for $150. Mine looked just like new when it arrived.

^THE TRUTH. Just imagine you are the running back. Get yourself a blocker, and follow him (swiftly) to the end zone.

Been rocking the V1 for 14 years

One of the best purchases I've made. I've "upgraded" once, about 6 years ago, by selling my old one for a couple hundred bucks and buying a new one.

I got a Belltronics from Best Buy for $199, works great. I got my first one years ago when I moved to Madison, probably kept Madison PD from making a grand or so off my ***. They love to write 3 and 4 miles over the posted speed limit. I love my safe city and our PD but Damn.

I'll jump in here. I've been running a 9500ix blue for years. (all by escort). This unit is pure gold. I call BS on the valentine units. Do a google search and compare, escorts blow valentines out of the water.
I just had the PASSPORT 9500ci installed in my fun car (996 C4S Cab). Jury is still out, but this unit is HOT.
