New they were on a short leash as the property was sold a few years ago but they had a lot of events through November schedule. Was always a fun as a Speedway and a Dragway.
Will be come an auction house and a storage rental joint. Progress...ugh.

Terrible news. I loved Atco as a kid. I was always there for test and tune nights with my 1995 GT mustang (sold) and my 03 cobra (still own).

Sad. Saw that last night on FB, as tons of friends posted about it, since Atco is about 10 miles from where we grew up. Had a few fun nights there as a teen.

Sad, same fate as Englishtown... Which is now fighting an even worse fate similar to East Windsor and Flemington...

In other "endangered species" news, please help save the Milltown Train Station before its too late:

Could you tell me what that "even worse fate" is? The article you linked to is behind a pay wall.

Being rezoned for housing.

"The Township Council has approved an ordinance that rezones the Raceway Park property at 348 Pension Road to low-density residential, but some think it's a drag."

Too bad. I went to the speedway as a kid with my uncle and his son a few times. One night we were there, they played "You're So Fine" by the Falcons continuously during every lull in the action. Guess it was the only song they had. Still like that song.

This is like the people who get sad when a restaurant closes but haven't been to the place in 10 years. It closed because no one was going.

I know nothing about Atco but it’s a slow day for me. When I saw the title and OP just for kicks I put the o/u of 9 posts before it got political. I was close.

Atco was meh at best compared to Englishtown. Spent a lot of days and nights at E-town watching and racing.....for both the quarter mile and motocross.

Atco was more lenient and allowed you to go around the water box for those of us running a drag radial. etown would often only let you make 3 passes on test and tune. Atco was my preferred because you could just run all night. Etown was great to see the big boys race tho.

Friday night street nights were a blast at Etown, but they definitely had their rules. I raced 4 years of motocross there, so the place was double special.

I used to watch NHRA at Englshtown on tv. Just looked and it appears they're not doing any tv events this year. Wonder why?
