They are Marines. They don't have all those silly unit patches; the sleeves are rolled outward and the trouser are bloused around the boots with bands.
The uniform reminds a lot of the images of the fall of Saigon when the marines were the last to leave defending the embassy.

I reverse-searched the image. That's what it was labeled as, in Grenada 1983. The bloused boots would indicate Airborne, no?

Here's the full image;

Woah. I wasnt trying to skew anything.
I am continually told I type too much, so I tried to be brief and mention just the immediate event leading up to the invasion, as well as a couple general reasons and results of the invasion.

I am very happy to have this conversation and your post was informative. There is no need, in my view, to lock this thread down. It obviously didnt need to exist to begin with, but the subsequent conversation neednt be angry, so I think its great if it stays open and the topic is discussed.
Its an off week- why not randomly discuss a relatively small geopolitical event from over 40 years ago?
Well, you're the dubmass who tried to make it political. Don't get your panties in a wad and try to act offended/innocent when you get called out on it.

I didnt start a thread by posting a picture of some US soldiers engaging in battle during the US' invasion of a Caribbean island nation.
If commenting on the photo is political, then posting it and calling it 'bad ass' is political. The thread is inherently political, if I am being political by listing historical facts and context surrounding the photo.

I posted the gifs because the AMERICA 17 YEAH of it all was kinda funny to me. Its unfortunate you dont see the humor.

The OP posted a photo that he thought looked good. You decided to inject your liberal ideologies and give us all a "history lesson" on foreign policy decisions from 50 years ago that you view as negative in hindsight.

Again, don't try to play the victim here, dubmass.
