Not exactly taunting. Wallace came closer, but a QB is supposed to act like his team can score. What message does it send to his receivers (and blockers) if he says "They're going to shut us out."

It's one thing to believe it, or even say it behind closed doors to the team. It's something else entirely to say those things in the press.

Wallace managed to give both Alabama and A&M bulletin board material. Which goes to show you that whatever physical gifts he has as a QB, he is sorely lacking on probably the most important quality of a successful quarterback: intelligence.

What's he supposed to say?

"Yeah, our receivers aren't anywhere near as good as A&M's. We don't have a chance."

This isn't anything close to BB material. You're blinded by your hatred of all things TSUN.

Remember this about the Bama/A&M game - Bama at one point went on a 42-7 run after A&M went up 14-0. That's the one thing I really took from that game.

When Bama is tested, they can easily respond.

I actually HATE Bama so your theory is wrong. They still haven't beaten a top SEC team so talking **** like this is just stupid when you are playing at their place. Like DS said, Bama may get down by a score or two but when pinned against the wall they will respond.

Bo Wallace may be correct

Moncrief and Treadwell are very talented. That's only part of the equation though. JFF is far more talented than Bo (nothing against Bo at all, that's just a known fact) and Albama's depth on both sides of the football will ultimately prevail. I do look for Ole Miss's offense to challenge Saban's defense for a quarter or two at least. Hell, this one may go down to the wire (although I doubt it).

Completely agree with this post.

He also said "I'm not Johnny" in that same interview.

Watch the interview to see how he's led into saying some of that stuff.

Also, it's not like we put an Ole Miss t-shirt on the Bear statue and started a massive social media campaign called #webelieve4-0.

I have no problem with what Bo said. I'm glad he's confident. We don't have anyone as good as Evans, but I'll take our group over their group.

All of that said, we will lose to Bama.

I'll be very curious to see how Bama's secondary deals with moncrief and treadwell. I think Bama gets Belue back this week which will help, but they have not been very good so far. Those matchup will present a challenge. Also, Bama has not been good at getting any real pressure on the QB so far. So I won't be surprised if it's close for most of the way.

On offense, Bama's running game has been lackluster. We'll see if they rise to the occasion. I see this one within a touch at the end of three. I think the bears cover.

Same thing as Namath before the '69 Super Bowl

Probably tired of hearing how his team doesn't have a chance. I would much rather have him confident than scared. Not really close to taunting, IMO.

You have a very broad definition of "talking ****"

if you consider anything that was said by either of those two to be "talking ****."

Also, I seem to remember Johnthan Banks screaming "We're gonna win the national championship" in the national media before the Bama game last year. I liked his (misguided) confidence then, and I like it from the Rebels now. I guess it doesn't count as talking **** when it's your guys actually predicting a win, though.

Here's the link to Banks saying that:

I have to disagree here. This is not because of my hate for all things OM. it's just facts. Ole Miss has beaten an OK Vandy team and nobody else. Bama went on the road and beat A & M and the reigning Heisman trophy winner in an extremely hostile environment. The spread isn't 17 for nothing. Ole Miss is going to get curb kicked.

Just because you "HATE" Bama doesn't mean you don't "HATE" OM.

Regardless, that wasn't even the point of the post.
Since you missed it:

This isn't BB material. This isn't talking ****. This is a QB trying to instill confidence in his receivers, nothing more. Saying they haven't played anyone (with which I disagree, SEC road wins don't come easy) has nothing to do with the point of the original post. It's obvious that you just want to rail on OM (which is fine, but at least admit it).

Freeze said almost the exact same thing in an interview the same day. Wallace was obviously told to talk off the same script. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sport...b6b6a0-24b2-11e3-9372-92606241ae9c_story.html

I have nothing wrong with a QB, coach or any team leader saying they "can score" on another team. To say less than that ("they are going to shut our asses out") would do nothing to add to the confidence they will need just to stay on the field with the likes of Bama. It's hard to imagine a Bama player all bug-eyed and quaking with rage from a clipping that says "we think we can score." There is no taunt there. No boast and certainly no put down.
