Elon has been in Memphis for awhile. I was down at the super computer building a few months ago calling on the chef and he said Elon was on the property every other Sunday

Yep. ManeFrame jokes in Memphis have been going on since at least June.

We chatted about it then…

How long before it’s jacked up on blocks and has its wheels stolen?
Don't think Tupelo has enough water to cool the dern thang. Memphis does. Apparently, it's right down on the Mississippi river, south of downtown. What's wild is they plan to buy 100,000 units of Nvidia's super AI chips to run it. That is a LOT of money.

It’s the old Electrolux plant near President’s Island

It’s in an industrial park south of Presidents Island. It’s in a rural part of Southwest Memphis along the river. Back about 15 years ago we looked at farming all that farmland out there around it but it was too hard to get to for us so we didn’t pursue it.

Elon chose Memphis because commercial property is cheap and there is a TVA plant next door that was running at a fraction of it's capacity.

There was a big news story about how MLGW would be affected by the potential power consumption. I figured Elon wouldn't have picked that location without brokering a deal with TVA for a direct line and bypassing MLGW.

I know where that is , but I've never been there. The only reason I know where it is is my Mom and sister had a GPS glitch trying to get to downtown and they wound up there once. That was some glitch.

Elon is a strange bird, but I am flabbergasted at the sh*t he gets done. The most famous historical genius inventors, world leaders, "Renaissance Men", or whatever - are usually known for one or two great discoveries or achievements. Da Vinci, Newton, Edison, Lincoln, Einstein, Franklin, Churchill... even more recent guys like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, etc... whoever you bring up, you can basically boil their story down to one or two great things. (Da Vinci is an exception, he did have many varied and incredible accomplishments, and I realize I'm oversimplifying achievements of others.)

I think a lot of that is because it's frickin hard to create something world-changing. Those guys spend every waking hour for decades focused and working on that one thing. It was said Edison had produced 10,000 prototypes for the light bulb before he found the one that worked. That's wild ambition, focus, and dedication.

Then you have Elon, who built up and is still leading the world's largest EV manufacturer, literally constructed passenger tunnels under Las Vegas, built a consumer-friendly satellite wifi company, bought and reinvented one of the largest social media platforms on a lark, decided to help get Trump re-elected and I guess will direct a new government agency, catches 20-story tall rockets out of the air fairly routinely now, has found a way for paraplegics to use their brainwaves to speak and move - and oh by the way is currently constructing the largest supercomputer in the world on the side.

I can barely keep a few projects spinning here in my little world every day and still get my kids to do their homework and to soccer practice. I don't know how the 17 it's possible to do what he gets done.

Like or dislike, he will be a history making figure. If I could use only two words to describe him they would be eccentric genius.

Probably not, but then pretty much any place with a decent river would have enough water. Is there a river in Noxapater?

Not sure but about Noxapater but there's always Nanih Waiya Creek and we all know they have an excellent cable system there too

This will be good for Desoto/Marshall county, but would’ve loved to see it in the Jackson Metro.

He owned restaurants & lived in Memphis? Tell me more please. I was not aware.
He had a restaurant out at Shelby Farms called The Kitchen that was open from 2016-2018. He also had a restaurant at the Crosstown Concourse called Next Door American Eatery that was open from 2017-2020. He didn't live in Memphis full-time but he had a place.

The new Ford Blue Oval City project has also been rumored to be linked to Elon's new plant due to some AI needs/requirement for its new electric trucks. Not sure how, but just some gossip I heard around the area.
