Anybody remember Sonny's on 16th Section Rd out past the old drive-in? It was great!

I haven't traveled all over the state to try BBQ but my favorite now is B's in the Sky Mart gas station in Oxford.
Similar, but not bbq. Out Old West Point Road almost to Highway 45 there was a panel truck that served food, but don’t remember the name.

One of my biggest dining risks was having a fish sandwich from there. Two pieces of white bread around a fried fish fillet of indeterminate origin. I also had a six pack of beer so it worked out.

I love dives, but that one was pretty bad.

I would venture to say that most people rating BBQ joints on various types of social media don’t really understand or know the difference between pulled pork and ribs.
BBQ is a personal preference and I had a nice long discussion today with a MS born Lyft driver in Kansas City about said BBQ
We could agree on a couple of rib places but his pork and sausage and chicken places varied a good bit from mine.
And it sometimes does depend on the day you visit said establishment.

C.H.O.P in Tupelo is reportedly good. I've never tried it but several people that I respect their BBQ acumen have recommended it.

Can confirm C.H.O.P. is very good.

I'll also plug Abe's in Clarksdale -- its the BBQ I grew up eating.

Same here.

Never get there enough, but the best BBQ by far is in the Delta. Abe's in Clarksdale, Clancy's in Yazoo City, Drake's in Greenwood, Betty's Place on Main St. in Indianola.

And then you try the Delta's gas station BBQ fare. Can be hit or miss: but when they do hit, that BBQ-S h i t will knock you the 17 out.

As long as those places are around, everything else in the state is strictly second rate.

y'all......to me, it's impossible to name best bbq b/c there are so many variations and styles......but I will absolutely say that "SACRED GROUND" bbq in Pocahontas is legit and unbelievably amazing!!

My first time there was the smoked brisket on sourdough dressed w/ some vinegar based greens, and an order of the pork belly burnt ends. All I can say is that every bite was just off the charts amazing.

I will drop alot of money there over the next few years, but at the same time, I still love the hamburger and slab of ribs from Little Willies on the rez
I'll second Sacred Ground. Unbelievable Texas style BBQ.

I mentioned this another thread, it's underrated but Little Willies has the best burger in Jackson IMO

Larry Bells place across from Oktibbeha county lake. Don’t know if he is still cooking. This wasn’t the kind of place that had a health dept permit:)

Random black guy setting up in a grocery store parking lot towing a grill made out of a propane tank.
There is a black guy in Shannon that sells bbq out of his backyard on Saturday’s and it’s F___king fantastic. Jacks BBq. Banana pudding is legit too.

Looking at their menu, those are about the going rate for top-tier bbq. Hell, many of the better places in TX are knocking the door on $40/lb for brisket.
I want to say I paid roughly $35 for a beef rib at Terry Black's a couple of months ago. It was really big though.

Sacred Ground is good. I don't think it's much better than Kenova though. The brisket was good but had a touch of dryness. Really like their Carolina sauce. It's one of the best mustard based sauces I've ever had. I did not care for their red sauce or Alabama sauce.

Like the other guy said, a lot of this is just personal preference.

Had a lunch special at Sacred Ground the other day that was so good. Think they called it the Mac daddy burger. It was a smash burger consisting of a patty, pulled pork, and mac&cheese. I didn't eat again until the next day.

I use to travel for work around Senatobia and Hernando. I’d always try to stop in Coleman’s BBQ to get lunch. I liked the people there and enjoyed the one in Senatobia the best. It was nice seeing the same staff over and over working there. Tupelo had one decades ago but that was before my time.

Every town in Ms had a Coleman's BBQ once upon a time.
