It's summer and many tv shows are taking a hiatus.

So does anyone have a recommendation of a tv show I might not have watched that is on Netflix streaming or part of Amazon Prime's free stuff? If it is a show with a handful of seasons to keep my attention for a while, that's good. But even if it is still a "current" show that has a few of the first seasonsavailableto stream, just let me know.

Breaking Bad on Netflix seasons 1-3
Season 4 is on Amazon but not free.
Season 5 starts in July.
Thank me later.

I mean, it was pretty good, but it wasn't god's gift to television like so many people make it out to be. I genuinely enjoyed that show, but it's not in my top 25.

It starts out a tad slow but I have never been sucked into a TV show as much as this one. I was late to discovering this show and ended up buying all of the seasons on DVD to catch up. The writing and plot turns are incredible.

You cannot stop watching Lost if you have even the smallest amount of appreciation for some sort of science/science fiction.

Unless there are no comedies in your top 25, I'm not sure how you could do that.

I'm sure there are a couple of comedies that are at least arguably as good or better, but outside of Seinfeld, I'm not sure what they'd be.

I don't know what's on amazon prime or netflix, because I used hulu and pirated torrents. I'm sure you can find most of these somewhere.

Breaking Bad - Needs no explanation.
The Walking Dead - See above.
Mad Men - See above.
Dexter - See above.
The Tudors - Decent story, lots of sex. Watch with the female.
The Borgias - See above.
Boardwalk Empire - Best plotline on TV. Necessarily violet, dark, and addictive.
Bored to Death - Smart, quirky comedy with Jason Schwartaman, Ted Danson, and Zach Galifinakas.
Game of Thrones - Most epic show out there.
Flight of the Conchords - Brilliant musical comedy.
House - The older episodes the better. You've probably seen it.
The Office (UK and US) - See above.
Community - Oddball comedy with great characters.
Sherlock - BBC Sherlock Holmes adaptation, the best Holmes ever. Blows any movie out of the water.
Dr. Who - Greatest series ever made. The modern revamp (starting with the 9th doctor) is where I started - no show will grow on you as much as this one.
Torchwood - Dr. Who spinoff. I'd watch John Barrowman in anything after seeing this.
Luther - BBC show, tough smart black detective. Really good villians.
Firefly - One of the most fun scifi shows ever, sadly only 1 season.
Castle - Firefly's lead actor (Nathan Fillion) in a fun detective show as a mystery writer that helps solve crimes. Is way better than it sounds - Fillion brings the same likable bravado from Firefly, carries the show.
Alphas - Special unit of humans with extrordinary abilities fight to keep the malicious of their own in check. Think modern x-men but not cheesy and without costumes. Fantastic acting in spots.
Sanctuary - Syfy's best show - Amanda Tapping leads a small cast at aiding the world's mutant-ish animals and people.
Haven - Hot chick uncovers mysteries in a Maine town where many citizens are cursed with powers.

Community, Bored to Death, and Flight of the Conchords easily win in my book. It's a better show than House and The Office, which are on my list, but those have like 7 seasons each, with many large storylines, and would be much more fun to plow through on netflix.

Or as I like to think of it "the show that introduced the world to Christina Hendricks and Morena Baccarin".

Typical Joss Whedon show if you follow him.

Longmire, and I think Psych, Burn Notice, Falling Skies and some others are starting back up. Yes, I actually find Zack Morris' new show enjoyable.

might have gone 2 seasons too far but if you're looking for a good one to start, 24 is great.

Judging from your avatar I'm assuming you're a fan of the one I hadn't noticed in the thread and was going to recommend. Game of Thrones.

Bored To Death above AD???? While I LIKED Community and earlier FotC, there's no way you can seriously put those comedies before AD. I'd possibly put it on par with The Office, but nowhere close to the other comedies. AD was smart, dry, witty, and didn't have the need to delve into vulgar areas to pull laughs. It couldn't due to being on Fox. A lot of comedies these days are forced to resort to explicit subjects to try and draw their humor. I'm not being a prude by saying this either. I just think it makes it that much more better.
Bored To Death??? I couldn't even make it thru the first episode and I forced myself to sit thru a lot of crappy shows/movies to have an open mind.

You might want to look into adding HBO to your package for a month or two. HBOGO.com has every show hbo has done on demand so you can watch game of thrones, the wire, etc. that other people are talking about. I would game of thrones and the wire. I don't understand how anyone could not have the wire in their top 10 at the least. If you don't I feel your opinion's on tv shows are worthless.

netflix streaming - breaking bad

I haven't seen it, but I hear sons of anarchy and justified are good.

have been my favorites on the drama side. For comedy, I love The Office and its still fun to pull up an episode of Married with Children from time to time to get my Al Bundy fix.

It sucks it was canceled. It was good. Interesting science, but one needs a pretty good eye to catch a lot of it. One needs to almost be invisible in the conversation to focus on the expressions instead of engaging the subject.

or nodding while saying no. It's quite common, and once you start noticing it you can't stop. I can catch some things, but nowhere near the show, or the books even. As you said, it takes a ton of concentration, and practice. I haven't lived all around the world studying it for 30 years. I love it when they show the picture of lying presidents all with the same expression though.

I've actually never seen The Wire, Lost, The Sopranos, or Heroes (which I know is weird for someone that watches basically everything else)

Regardless, my top 5 is:

1. Breaking Bad
2. Game of Thrones
3. Walking Dead
4. Boardwalk Empire
5. Mad Men

Arrested Development, Archer, Lost, How I Met Your Mother, Scrubs, Firefly, and Mad Men. Next on my list to check out are The League, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.

Edit to add: Game of Thrones if it was available.

That one's starting to come along - we'll see how season 2 goes before I go around singing its praises, but season 1 was solid. Love Pope's character.
