was that complaining about the price of services is relative: not whether veterinary services are on equal footing as human medical procedures in whatever terms that you chose to measure. The procedures are similar, the pharmaceuticals are from the same company, the method of instrument sterilization are the same, and the cost of raw materials is less for hospitals due their ability to buy in bulk. Yet when a vet gives an injection of antibiotic and charges $10 and your doctor charges $35, you need to know this: both cost, depending on the antibiotic, $2.00 an injection. Yet many will begrudge the veterinarian and say he is trying to rip me off. And I am willing to bet that in you lines of work, the business is not listed under a non profit agency. It takes the average vet 8 years for a degree, and it is a professional degree: so we are not going to work for minimum wage, and most charge reasonable prices. If you feel like the veterinarian that you see charges too much, shop around. Simply remember that Walmart is hard to beat on price, but not hard to beat on quality.

I worked with Dr Whittington all through highschool and college and contine to take my dogs to him. From years of watching him work on other peoples pets, he is the man I want working on mine.

and the reasoning behind my bitching about the big bills is because every time we havetried a new vet, they wanted to run up all this damn blood work and tests, etc. I went to three different vets and each time, I told them to call the prior vet we visited and get the results (6 month intervals). Every time I asked them to do this, they would ***** and moan that they wanted "my own results for my own records". The last guy who is on Old Fannin road pissed me off so bad, I walked out. Its not the money that pisses me off, it is the lack compassion for my dog. I felt like all these guys cared about was making a buck and could care less about my dog. She is my little boy's (4 yo) best friend, theyare inseparable. I'd like her to be in the hands of a vet that seems to actually care for her well-being. Especially when I am paying for their services.

Rant over.
