OT: Beware of Hipster Music Snobs

I guess I'm risking showing my age (again), but what's a hipster? And what's a hipster music snob? I'm guessing that "hipster" and "music" are oxymoronic ....
Williamsburg frightens me. People dressed in 1940's attire that has shrunk 2 sizes with piercings all in their face smoking corncob pipes or Parliaments. Scary indeed.
Ah, somewhat like Maynord Crebbs then. Sounds like they'd be more at home in Oxford than Starkville.
Never noticed that about Williamsburg, but I haven't been there in about 5 years. Sounds like you're describing the Wal Mart crowd.
Yesterday, we went to see Jersey Boys (the play), and at another part of the Von Braun (Civic) Center they were having some sort of tattooing gathering. I stepped outside during intermission, and some of them did too. I've never seen more freakish people in one place in my life.

How was the Huntsville version of Jersey Boys? Saw it in Vegas about a year and a half ago. Low expectations going in, but it was very enjoyable.
It was very well done. They must alternate performers who play the role of Frankie Valli because of the strain on the voice. They had about 10 performances here over 4 days and they had two "Frankies".
It wasn't a local production. They get traveling shows that go to mid-size cities, and there are several plays each season. It's probably at least a couple steps below the real Broadway, but still very good. The talent the young folks have is really amazing.

Not an uncommon practice. Saw The Christmas Story on Broadway the first year they started it up and there were several Ralphie's. The people I went with were big play buffs and were disappointed we had the 2nd alt, but I couldn't tell a difference.
Yeah, hipsters I have met in NYC and Chicago are a completely different breed of people. I've met people that actually hate fun. It's scary.
We went to Memphis a few weeks ago and saw Wicked by one of the traveling companies. We had seen it on Broadway about 10 years ago but my six year old was desperate to see it too, so we went. I think they were there a few weeks. Very well done. Maybe not quite Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, but each time you see something with different performers they all put their own spin on it.
Okay. I live in Austin and I can tell you without a doubt that these are all visitors from Ole Miss.
Seriously, I am glad someone exposed the music snobs that won't drink anything but local, organic milk because regular milk cows may have been around chemicals, but will take a hit of acid from any stranger on the street. They are quite annoying. Luckily, most of these morons stay downtown and I have minimal exposure to their hippie ways. Cartman would go crazy around here.

I saw Rock of Ages off Broadway in NYC in '08 before it made it to Broadway. Just saw it here in Augusta, GA about 3 weeks ago by a traveling troupe. It was enjoyable but not nearly as good. All the music was the same but somewhere in the past six years the script was reworked. It was a hell of a lot more sexual, whereas in the original it was more implied and tongue in cheek. There was also an added "gay rights" subplot that wasn't there before..."not that there's anything wrong with that."
