One of the best times of year is this coming week w/the BET in NYC. Been going for the better part of 10-12 years; great times, fanbases, and college bball at its finest

I'll be at the Session 1 on Wednesday, then the day session on Thursday
Love me some day drinking in the city:)

Anyone else heading in?

As a long time fan of the BE, I love this tournament. Gonna try to get to see one session but not sure what day yet.

I grew up following Providence and have seen them at MSG in the Big East tournament several times. At >$200 per ticket for Thursday's quarterfinals though, I'll watch on FS1.

If Providence makes it to next Saturday's semifinal, maybe I'll pay up and go see the game in person.

Train rides in/out were always cool and it was special when were were in it. Still a great event but has certainly lost it's magic for me. I did go a couple years agi and it was still lots of fun. And so less stressful lol.

I’d rather watch a replay of the last minute of the Minnesota game. Such an overrated conference with too many bottom dwellers: GTOwn / Butler / DePaul / Seton Hall / St John’s. And a lot of unlikeable coaches in Hurley / Miller / Holloway / Anderson.
There’s very little cachet in that conference.

Def overated but the Garden is special and day drinking in the city is one of life’s simple pleasures

Can’t wait for the huskies to take a step badk and then have 10000 in the garden for the big east tourney

And that will get their brass to open it up to the big ten and acc

That’s nice an all, but we had 15,000 in there for a regular season game. Also, St.John’s, and maybe even Nova and Georgetown would also have 10,000 in there if they were having a top-5 season. Big Ten isn’t handing out any invites to any of those schools any time soon

This is one weird conference even more than the PAC 12.

While the bottom of the conference is indeed dreadful the top is as good as any.

Marquette and UConn as good as anybody. Creighton and Xavier not far behind. Providence is solid. And would anybody be stunned if a healthy Nova won the whole thing. Seton Hall when they bring their A game can beat anybody.

I think it will be entertaining and will at least surf.

Fascinated by UConn as have the talent to win it all but has there been a worst coaching job by Danny Hurley in the first round the last two years?

Quarterfinal tickets to B1G tournament in Chicago are a lot less expensive than quarterfinal tix to Big East tournament at MSG. Each tourney sells 2 sets of tix on quarterfinal day - tix for the 2 afternoon games and separate tix for the 2 evening games. Prices including fees via Ticketmaster:

B1G
$58 + $72 = $130

Big East
$196 + $116 = $312

Why is the Big East tournament so damn expensive?

Tradition + The Garden = $$

Went to the ACC tourney last year in Brooklyn - was awful compared to MSG

Sterile arena + fan bases not showing out
Big East def watered down but I still love going

ACC in Greensboro also looks good - bucket list item for sure

I do not know, maybe because I’m just reliving my younger days but there is nothing like seeing a college bb game at the garden. It will always be a special place for me

Nothing says college basketball like Xavier vs DePaul in MSG

Pass
From the point of view of a neutral fan, Xavier vs Depaul at MSG in New York City might have greater appeal than Rutgers vs Northwestern at the RAC in Piscataway, NJ.

If Rutgers wins tomorrow, they will likely be a 8 or 9 seed. Xavier is a 4 or 5. If the committee places both teams in the East region and they both win their first 2 games, Rutgers and Xavier will be playing in the Sweet 16 at MSG.

Then we'll be loving to see a Xavier game at MSG.

MSG will always be the place where Rutgers first made its mark as a great basketball program in 1966 and 1967 with Valvano and Lloyd at the NIT. Great atmosphere where it all began.

As for the BE tournament, the BE has become such a parochial league of small Catholic schools (with the exception of UConn) that much of the magic of the tourney is gone.
