They definitely ended this season with a big bang. I was mostly anxious for the Richard massacre. It was great, except I was really expecting him to finish Gillian. I couldn't believe they didn't even have a scene with him and her. He kills things that are a threat and she is the biggest threat to the boy.

Rosetti needed to die so that was good. That was a great character, but he was too much trouble for all the guys businesses.

Good setups for some major conflicts next year. Luciano and Capone are going to go off big next season.

I am also glad the pace picked up this season. Previous season I often did a little skip ahead in scenes that were dragging out not giving any additional info. This year it was not as bad.

It appears that Nucky and Rothstein are going to have some conflict next season as well. Should be interesting.

The finale last night was awesome.

I thought the same thing...

Harrow is checking every room for more people to kill and then they don't even show him finding Gillian? There has GOT to be a payoff from that next season. I'm betting he somehow saved her. And they just laid a guilt trip on Nucky with her having a flashback to him setting her up with the Commodore for the first time.

The moment I saw the phone ringing in Esther Randolph's office I muttered... Uh oh... He's about to 17 Rothstein.

Nucky begging Margaret to come back... I know they're trying to play him as hoping he can hold on to a normal life, but... LET. THAT. *****. WALK.

Capone on the mg with a stogie glowing in his mouth... awesome.

And can somebody explain to me the Luciano & Lansky/Rothstein/Masseria triangle with the dope? Who paid for what and why?? I was lost.

Masseria helped finance it for Luciano and Lansky. He was going to get a cut of the profits from the sales. So Rothstein steals it and gives it to Masseria. This way Masseria doesn't have to share the profits and Rothstein earns some points. Rothstein also doesn't have to worry about Masseria taking it out on him if it is ever discovered that the cops were Rothstein's guys.

The problem for Masseria and Rothstein is that Luciano and Lansky, if they want to be gangsters, are going to have to do something about getting ripped off by those two.

You folks do know how it turns out right? Rothstein gets whacked by Massirea. Joe the Boss, who was actually a grossly overweight guy, gets whacked by Bugsy Seigal and crew in a double cross set up by Charlie Lucky with help from Salvatore Marranzano. Who is then whacked by Lucky, who then established the Five Families of NY and the modern day mafia is born.

I've been waiting on bugsy. Thought he was going to have a bigger role after he tried to take out Gyp.

Yes, this indeed was another great season.

Gyp Rossetti made this season, but I was glad to see that 17'er die. As far as the season finale goes, don't get me wrong I think it was great but I almost felt like they just tried to pack to much in the final episode(maybe intentionally done?). I was more impressed with the next-to-last episode because it really caused a great build up.

A few things to look forward to I believe in the coming season: what will be Nucky's avenue back to gangster prominence?...What will be the status of his and Margaret's relationship?(just go away, I wish)...Capone's rise...Where the hell is Van Alden now?...What happens in the Rosthstein/Massariea situation?...will the directors introduce another polarizing one-season character?

If you're going to give spoilers at least make sure they're accurate. Rothstein doesn't get whacked by masseria. Rothstein gets killed over unpaid gambling debts. He refused to pay his debts because he thought the game was fixed. Nothing to do with masseria.

Fantastic season

After watching the first few episodes of this season, I thought I was really going to miss Jimmy. In a way I do, but it's picked up so much steam since then that things are still great without him.

Gyp is the classic "big bad." Dexter seems to do this almost every season, introduce a menacing villain early on, and he dies at the end of the season. He was a great "love to hate" character. The scenes with Gillian where they're talking dirty and he starts tearing up were confusing, creepy, and awesome. She spent all season becoming more and more villainous, then in her final scene of the series, they make you realize it's Nucky's fault she's that way.

Speaking of Nucky, boy did I dislike him to start the season. I felt nothing for him at all until the episode with his concussion. The last few episodes were really good at bringing you back on his side. Same with Eli over the course of the season - he was a traitor I had nothing for, but they made him a very good sympathetic character. Chalkie didn't get nearly enough time this season, but was fantastic as always. Same goes for Capone.

Sad to see our favorite Irishman go, but it had to be done if they planned on keeping Margaret. Didn't like much about Margaret this season - her women's clinic storyline came to a weak conclusion, and her romantic excursions with Owen was the only thing I looked forward to involving her. Hopefully next season they find something interesting for her to do.

To me, the best storyline of the season ended up being Richard. Beginning with avenging his secret love, ending with rescuing his best friend's son, finding love, and blowing lots of heads off. I toast you with your favorite black lager, Mr. Harrow.

My favorite quote of the season is by far...

Capone say:
"We been on the road for 18 hours. I need a bath, some chow, then you and me sit down and we talk about who dies, eh?".
