Modelo is now the #1 selling beer in America,.

AB InBev does own the Modelo brand, except for the in the United States, where it is controlled by Constellation to satisfy US regulators.

And They were out yesterday. Had to go with PBR and that was out. Settled with Miller lite.

Haven't drank either in a long, long time. I generally stick with Yuengling, Rolling Rock, Stella Artois, Molsons and Heineken. Occasionally purchase a dark beer from England or Germany. BTW dark german or british beers are great for marinating a pork butt for a couple of days before smoking.

That there are plenty of tasteless beers out there. In a blind taste test you'd be hard pressed to distinguish the big three light beers.
To the guy looking for drunkenness, free is usually the winner regardless of taste!
Not the case with the Bud Light offering!

When I lived in Germany the only people I saw that drank dark beer were children. Adults drank pilsners.
I think the stereotype of Germans being beer connoisseurs is a little untrue. Pilsners and light (colored) lagers are practically synonymous. I think they're just heavy consumers. Or maybe I just don't care for their major styles.

Pilsner is heavier on the hops. Germans do like their bier.

Guess I’m one of the few adults that enjoy a good German dark beer. I wonder why the German adults don’t.
I just Googled it. Seems to be a regional thing. Apparently they do drink dark beer in the South. I lived in northern Germany near the border with The Netherlands. They don’t drink dark beer there. But when they have a family holiday meal just the children drank dark beer that I saw.

And if they can't give it away for free with coupons/rebates, what does that tell you?

Read the report that they saw a 60% drop in Memorial Day sales. A spot check by one outlet found stores trying unsuccessfully to offload 24-packs of Bud Light for $3.49

I've had Pilsner Urquell. Not many more crafty pilsners though.
Urquell is the original Pilsner beer from the 1600's I believe. Craft beers that I've had remind me of the beer my parents tried to make when I was a kid. I'm not a fan of stuff floating around in my beer. To me Urquell taste like nectar of the gods. My wife thinks it's bitter. I think it's smooth. Taste is definitely an individual thing 🙂

LOL. Craft beer is not all like that. Although I do enjoy juicy IPA that you can't see through. I'm with your wife on the Urquell. It does taste bitter to me. But then IPAs taste bitter to people who aren't used to drinking them. I went through several before I happened upon the citrus hopped beers. Now that's my favorite variety. The non-citrus ones tend to have an earthy taste.

Funny...I drank Coors Light for years. About 10 years ago a small brewery opened up near my work and tried all different kind of beers. I have since become a IPA drinker and my wife is a wheat girl. My beer of choice is Laganitas...good taste and not an high Alcohol content, about 6%. I had a douple IPA the other day...very smooth but at 9.5% you can't drink a lot of those.

I prefer the beer made close to where I live. Always fresh and good. A friend makes excellent home brew as well. Stuff like Bud light is just nasty.

Yeah, I came up drinking Mich Light until you couldn't find it. My wife is a wheat gal as well. Yeah, Lagunitas is good. Also like L'il Sumpin' Ale from them. My go-to is Wicked Weed Pernicious, but I'm always open to a citrus like the Big O from Sugar Creek. The wife and I got on a health kick more than a year ago and beer has been almost completely off the menu for months. We're headed to Florida Monday for vacation and there will probably be beers involved.

I think I must have above average/upper echelon taste buds, because I can certainly taste the difference. It's not even close, and I've done multiple blind tastings.

Laganitas has a good peach beer out right now. Not quite a sour but close. Would be perfect for the beach/ lake/pool.

Edit: was just informed its Leinenkugel's

I do like Wicked Weed Pernicious as well but I want to say the ABV is around 7.5%. My problem is I don't know when to say when:giggle:Idon't know what part of Florida youre headed but If you are in Tampa make sure you go by Cigar City...Jai Alai is a good IPA

Not sure about the average German’s ability to grade beer. All I know is Beer over there is in a different world than beer over here. German beer is a lot better. It is also true in Belgium, Holland, Austria and Switzerland.

Maybe their established brands are better than Bud-Miller-Coors. I understand Germany has beer purity laws and some varieties can only be made in certain places. And I like Belgian beers. But I'm not buying their superiority with the craft beer explosion here. You can get almost anything you want here now.

I normally drink whiskey buy will have an occasional beer. I used to drink Michelob or Michelob Light. I hate that bars and restaurants replaced both of those beers with the lame a** Michelob Ultra. If any beer needed a transvestite as it's spokesperson, it's Mich Ultra.
