Is it better to rent a machine and do it myself or to hire a pro like Stanley Steamer. I live in Diamondhead, so if anyone has any expierence with companies on the coast, that would be helpful. Oh, and yes I do have google and I know how to use it. I'm just needing some first hand information. Thanks 17ers

type companies be ready to be upsold. Once they are in the door, their main intent is to see how much
of your money they can put in their pocket.

And I've always been satisfied with the job it does. Actually did it the weekend of the Georgia game. It was like 25 dollars to rent and each soap bottle was 25 bucks. Make sure you have some fans available. The one from Lowe's will leave the carpet a little wet for a day or two.<div>

Definitely get a pro to do your carpets....

Renting some cheap Dr. Vacuum from a store will only make matters worse in the long run. The soap does nothing but attract more dirt. From my personal experience try and find a family run business... that seems to have been my luck. I'm not near the coast so I can't recommend a specific one. Commercial companies tend to do a poorer job.

rents carpet cleaners and he will tell you to use a professional service. Find a reputable company and allow them to do it.

He claims that the soaps sold for the rentals are worse on your carpets than not cleaning them at all. He also said that the rentals do not have enough suction to remove the amount of water and soap in your carpets.

The professionals will also be able to work on spots with different solvents that you are not going to have when you get the rental.
