Going to concert tonight at Gramercy theatre. Recommendation for pub or casual type restaurant between Penn Station and 23rd/Lexington? Thanks.

I'll report any coaching prospects I see in NYC.

Food type? Lots of Indian in the mid 20's by

Hill country BBQ 26th bet 5 & 6 (Flat iron hall is next door)
Blue Smoke more upscale BBQ 27th near lex

Shorty's cheesesteaks and beer on 5th near 27th

Belgian beer cafe on NW corner of Madison Sq Park

Live Bait on 23rd between Mad and Bway

I tend to like Flat Iron area, less bust than up near the Garden

Thanks, off that list, Hill Country may be best bet. Belgian beer and Live Bait did not have great reviews.
May not be too casual, but Giorgio's of Gramercy has good reviews.

Live bait never gets great reviews....thats what makes it live bait. If hill country is too casual there are a few nice places across the street.

This may be too casual, but NYC Pizza Suprema makes the best pizza slice in Manhattan, and it's right across Penn Station, on 31st and 8th. It's my Thursday night tradition.

I've eaten at a place called Indikitch (23rd between 5 and 6) a few times and really like it. I haven't really had Indian food any place else so I have no reference point to compare it to other places, but I have liked what I have had there. Place is very casual, set up like a Chipotle where you pick which items you want. They sell bottled beer but not really a drinking spot. Last time I walked there from Penn St, I stopped at American Whiskey (30th B/T 7 and 8) for a drink and some oysters. Decent place.

Flatiron Hall on 26th is a good German bier hall. Pretzels, bratwurst, etc.

Maysville across the street towards Broadway is a great whiskey bar with a huge selection. The food is upscale southern comfort food, if that makes any sense.

Shorty's is a Philly themed dive bar on Madison and 27th. Best Philly cheesesteaks in nyc, good beer selection.

There's a groupon for Giorgios of Gramercy, I believe.
I presented the options to my wife, and she elected Giorgios of Gramercy. And since she is a good enough sport to come watch Corrosion of Conformity with me, she gets the choice. Could not find the Groupon. Hope we are OK in jeans.
