Is it possible to spy on someone's phone so that calls are received by you and the intended person without there knowledge. I don't want to go to too many details but it appears that sister's ex can get their children's calls without their knowledge.

Cell phone spyware does in fact exist

And can be bought and installed legally, if you own the phone. It's possible he installed something like that. I can't say I know anyone who has ever used it, but i know it exists. Creepy.

She tried to FaceTime her child who was standing next to her and the ex answers. She freaked.

change the icloud account

She tried to FaceTime her child who was standing next to her and the ex answers. She freaked.

my guess would be that the ex set up the icloud account for the kids phone (I'm assuming these are apple phones). Delete the icloud account that is currently on the kids phone. You might call apple and ask who can recieve facetime through the phone number

Sounds exactly right.

I can answer FaceTime on my iPad or phone, and presumably my old phone if it were on. They're probably on his account. You sign in by Apple ID, not by phone number.

All of my kids are signed in on my iCloud account, so I have experience with this issue. You can keep this from happening just by changing the settings on the phone. Go into General--FaceTime settings. You can select which phone #s you want to receive Facetime. Parent number is obviously selected. Uncheck it.

Anytime you do a software update, if the person installing it doesn't know to only select their number(and not the other numbers/email addresses on the account), you can have stuff like this happen. I have had it happen several times with my kids.

It may not be quite as creepy as it seems. Let's hope.

Thanks. I have passed on the information. Based on past experiences if was done on accident it was only because he didn't know he could do it.

Of course you can. Haven't you watched Person of Interest on TV? They are always doing that some how. Cool TV show.

Short of a court order, the only way to intercept calls (or texts or any other electronic communication) legally is to have the consent of one party. Otherwise, I believe it's a misdemeanor in Mississippi.

This also applies to chatter on coaches' headsets. Unless you're in Auburn, AL...

Understood. Might want to have them check Messages as well. It works the same way. Look under Send/Receive.
