I need to stay Thurs-Sun in Lincoln on a game weekend this fall as cheaply as possible in a hotel/motel without roaches. Wifi would be nice, breakfast nicer. I usually stay in Omaha, so am unfamiliar with the Lincoln hotels, especially cheap hotels. Where located in town is not important. I looked on line at the Microtel over on 27th for, but before booking thought maybe someone had a recommendation.

I just stayed at the Microtel in Bellevue that from pics looks the same as the one in Lincoln. It was clean. Beyond that it kind of sucked. Hard bed, rotten pillows, rotten breakfast, bad wifi. My wife made the reservation and I assumed it was going to be the usual Hampton Inn, etc. We pulled up and I said, "WTF is a Microtel?" If you're cool with very basic it'll work.

Very interesting. Have you ever stayed in someone's room before? It looks like it could be cool, but after 40 years in hotels, not sure an old dog can learn new tricks.
It is a bit of a new trick type thing haha. I'm going to be using Airbnb extensively in about 2 weeks. I'm going overseas for about 4 months, most of which will be using Airbnb. Most people report positive experiences, but I am sure there are some duds out there too. I would stick with places that have good reviews and just have a positive outlook and remember it's about saving money too. I figure if it gets that bad, I can always go spend the extra coin for a nicer hotel room. Good luck with your search!

Thanks, I may give it a shot. There is a room in a lady's house, your own (small) kitchen/sitting room/BR for $21/night. Since I am basically only going to be "flopping" at night, it should work.

I Airbnb'd in Chicago for a bachelor party a couple years ago. It worked out great. Pretty novel concept.

We always stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites on 50th & Cotner. Gwen runs a good ship there. Always clean, wifi, affordable and have a continental breakfast. There are also 2 good restaurants right next door.
