Giordano's is goodness if you are into stuffed pizza. The music and bar scene is diverse (Google "music in Chicago" for listings). Also, buy cigarettes before you get into the city limits and give them to homeless people when asked for money.

Chicago Chop House. Be prepared to drop some coins, but I had a bone-in rib eye that was the absolute best I have ever had.

Giordanos Chicago style deep dish, but bring an appetite- it's a lot of food. For a bit nicer, but a great value, hit The Tavern on Rush. Catch 35 if just you and the wife (due to price and upscale atmosphere) for incredible seafood. The roof bar in the Park Hyatt is a great place for drinks and city lights.

Depends on what you like to do.....

Going for a little getaway.. Any suggestions on boat cruises, restaurants, attractions, things to do?

If you like museums the field museum and museum of science and industry are top notch. Eat some deep dish pizza at any number of places.

Italian Beef - Portillo's. Absolutely fantastic.... Deep Dish - Lou Malnati's. As far as what to do, if you like museums, the Field Museum is amazing. They have the actually freaking lions from th Ghost and the Darkness. I kid you not. Pretty cool. And, if you go down to it, Soldier Field is across the street. So, you get 2 birds with 1 stone. John Hancock building is an awesome view of the city and Lake Michigan. Plus, the observation deck has a screened portion. So, you can actually go outside that far up. truly windy... Chicago was a fun city. We did it for a long weekend. Flew into O'Hare, bought a 3 day public transit pass and did subway and spent less than $20 on cab fare. Their transit system is as user friendly as any city in the country. You can literally find what you need to without any hassle. Great city.

We went about 3 years ago. This is what we did:

Tuesday - Mobster Tour (cool), Sluggers Bar and Cubs vs Astros - just awesome

Wednesday - Did a double decker tour of Chicago, went to Sears Tower, did architectural tour on River, Navy Pier, Nice dinner at Keefer's (really good)

Thursday - Field Museum and Aquarium (boring), Deep Dish at Pizano's (oprah recommended), Hancock Tower (really cool), Zanie's Comedy Club in Olde Town that night (really cool area) - ate at Lebanese place - really good after show

Friday - Museum of Science and Industry. I usually hate museums but I could have spent 2 days in that place. It was unreal all the stuff in there. Ate a Mexican place Friday night called Zapacita's. If you ever go back - that place was damn good.

I've heard a lot of good things about the architecture boat tour.

I also recommend the City Pass - click here. This is great if you have time to get your money's worth and plan accordingly. For example, we knew off the bat we weren't going to make the Museum of Science and Industry because it was too far south.

Also, be prepare your heart to walk. A lot.

Yep - we go the City Pass too. Well worth it and the nice thing about the city pass is you can get on the tours that are part of the city pass and jump and jump off when another tour comes by.

Plan to eat at Lucky Sandwhich when you go to Wrigley. Great restaurant. Also in Wrigleyville, is Murphy's and this is a cool place to hang out before or after a game. Chicago is a great city you will have fun.

as an architect, I recommend the boat tour. Did it in November and froze our asses off but worth it. You have to go to the Weiner Circle, especially if you are out late and hammered. http://www.wienercircle.net/ check out the video from Conan's live show.

I too was in Chicago and Lou Malnati's this past weekend...

I ate at Lou Malnati's yesterday evening-- their S. State location. Awesome deep dish pizza. Their Tiramisu is excellent.

Rock Bottom Brewery is a national chain. I drank a Saison that was outstanding-- the bartender said it wasn't one of their usual beers. It should be though. They also had a very good IPA.

Artists' Cafe makes a fantastic breakfast. I had a New York Style breakfast-- a 3-egg omelet with corned beef and cream cheese, hash browns, and a bagel-- they only take cash and AMEX though.

The Berghoff is awesome-- excellent German food.

And if you like South Park, The Book of Mormon is playing at the Bank of America Theater. I saw it last night after eating at Lou Malnati's.

Hang out in the South Side of Chicago. Be sure to hold a sign that says, "White Power".
