Does the Pack know of anyone in the central Mississippi area who specilizes in coins? I am looking for a person who can fairly estimate the value of a fairly sizable collection of coins ranging in date from 1798 to the 1980's. Someone who is certified/recognized by the Numismatic Society of America or similar reputable organization. Mostly silver coins but a few copper as well.

Don't know of anyone in Mississippi, but have done business with Southern Coins and Precious Metals in Metairie a number of times in the past and he seems very reputable. BTW, this is the best place in the area to buy bullion gold/silver coins. Website is http://www.scpm.com/

I'll be glad to take all of your quarters, dimes, and half dollars from 1964 and earlier. Plus any doubled die pennies, and other coin rarities you don't wish to keep

OSD is correct. Southern in Metairie is good. Also Paul Hollis in Mandeville, LA. Try this site: http://www.pngdealers.com/dealersearch.php. Also it sounds like you may have a valuable collection on your hands so I would recommend a quick trip to Dallas and Heritage Rare Coin. They will give you an estimate of the value or if you like, they will buy the collection. Check out their webb site. Also, the ANA ( money.org). I know there is coin show in Vicksburg with 30 or 40 dealers available held several times a year.

Second that with Southern Coin in Metairie........

I inherited a ton of old coins and antique silver from my grandparents.....I had all the silver melted down and got silver bullions in place of.....of course, that was earlier in the summer when silver was around $27/ounce.....looking good....by law, you can only melt down quarters, halves, and dollars....dimes, nickels and pennies are against the law to melt down....you wont find any silver in nickels anyway unless you have 1942-45, and even then it is only around 30% (i think).....your real value is in the pre 1964 quarters.....as it stands today, each is worth $6.25 in silver.....its really hard to say what to do at this point....I definitely WOULD NOT buy silver or gold until after the election.....if obama gets elected, look for gold and silver to stay high (inflation), and if romney gets elected it will go down....not sure what you are looking to do, but the guys at southern coin are the best.....stay away from the one in jackson.....there is another good one in memphis, but the one is nola is better.....didnt mean to turn into political if it seems that way but facts are facts.....hope this helps....
