Anyone else get a significant rate increase from Comcast? Got my bill Saturday and everything is up 10%. I've gotten used to 2-3% every year was not expecting this. And what pisses me off the most is thatI receivedno prior notice. Nothing in the mail or email. Nothing explaing new features, channels, etc that would make me feel better about paying an extra 10%... just a higher bill.

I'll likely be switching to Direct TV because it'll be slightly cheaper for the next two years, plus more channels and a 2nd HD box. But a question for anyone in the Lee County / Tupelo area --- do they carry the local channels in HD?

Also, has anyone made a similar switch lately? Are you satisfied with DTV or would you rather go back? Anything major I'll be losing other than CSS (which I rarely watch now - since it's in the SD channels I normally forget I even have it)

stating all of the various things that were increasing. Seemed like everything was going up materially.

I'll grumble about Comcast from time to time when their **** is not working right. But when it comes down to it, once you get past the introductory offers, all the tv providers are ridiculously high. Once you add in all the box fees, HD fees, etc, I haven't found much of a difference when you add it all up whether it is Comcast, DirecTV or UVerse.

No locals in HD in Tupelo with Directv. I have a antenna hooked up to my directv box to get locals in HD. Kinda like it this way so I still get the locals even during torrential rain fall that causes rain fade with satellite. No way would I go back to Comcast. Directv just rolled out a new Media Center DVR that has 5 tuners and 1TB hard drive. You can record up to 5 channels at the same time. Right now it's only available to new customers. Should be available to existing customers sometime in Feb. If your gonna make the switch do it before Feb. 12 when Directv is going to have a rate increase.

I am going to have them upgrade my internet and see if that helps, but I had much faster times with Comcast. <div>
</div><div>The TV selection, channel guide, etc. are much better though. However, I switched from Comcast before they added more HD channels and started Xfinity here. I havent really missed CSS either. I watched the State/Ole Miss game the other night on my computer with ESPN3. Never was an issue during football season.</div>

Avoid them at all costs. I've had both Dish Network and DirecTV and both are superior to AT&T. Picture quality was better with DirecTV and reliability for both Dish and Direct were head and shoulders better than AT&T. When you call to complain about AT&T's ****** service, you get to talk to someone in Abu Daubi. If it wasn't for an HOA requiring us to get ScrewVerse, then their **** would be packed in a box and we'd be reinstalling DirecTV.

Selection much better than Comcast. DVRing is much better. Channel guide is much better. When I had Comcast I often had times where the screen would go all pixelated and audio would mess up, particularly with HBO and sports. None of that with UVerse. I can tell no difference in the picture quality.

At least that's what the tech who re-installed my system after a move a couple weeks ago on the coast told me. Said they were actually giving customers the only HD DVR modelthey had....the original, which was actually older than the one i've had for two years. But he said the new ones would be in in a couple months, must be the ones you're talking about.

they both have their warts, but i'm happier with directv and im glad i switched.

the onlydrawbacks for me with directv are the 2-year contract and they dont have CSS.

with directv, iget more channels for the same price, and theyre all in HD

i dont see where comcast has an advantage in any area. screw them. comcast is greedy

i do remember the day i returned my comcast receivers and discontinued my service. i stood in line with no less than 6-7 other people returning receivers and the drop box out front was overflowing with returned receivers from people cancelling their service.

i made the decision to switch aftercon-cast blacked out theMSU-Memphis football game. that was a low blow.

also, ive hadzero problems with satellite reception in bad weather

I hooked up all my DVR's to my interweb and had Directv cut on the whole home service last week. Now the old lady don't ***** about all my manly shows on her DVR in the living room. Watch my DVR located in the office in any room is the ****.
