I have a fairly new HP rig with Norton. My home page has been Yahoo for no particular reason. My computer had gotten very slow, to the point I took the tower to a local guru. I explained that it took a long time for internet sites to come up (the wait seemed to be caused by waiting for ads to come up), plus every once in a while my screen would lock up and go pale. I could still see the text, pictures, whatever, but it was frozen. I would have to do the control/alt/delete thing to get out of everything and start over. He kept it for a couple of days and then called me in. "I fixed a couple of little things...mumble mumble... didn't find much wrong...mumble mumble...that'll be $40 please." Then, and I really don't remember why, I changed my home page from Yahoo to AOL, and everything is suddenly much faster. Is this coincidence or did I accidently do something right? Did hiring our new coach lift the jinx of the Indian Burial Ground? Other? Anybody have any educated guesses?
