Heard all the local BS about if he has a huge season this year, he will be one of the hottest names out there. Guy is 43, done a great job at Troy and 1 season at Tulane. Former UK Linebacker and has had stops as a coach at some good places. Did we miss the boat hiring Lebby? Guess my question is, did &tate miss out on a future phenomenon, or did we miss the bullet on Scott Frost at Nebraska. Just curious your thoughts?

He was my first choice.

After we hired Lebby and Sumrall left Troy for Tulane I assumed that we had our pick of the two and chose Lebby…

Maybe we made the right choice.

Maybe we made the wrong choice.

Maybe Sumrall is eyeing a different SEC job and saw Tulane as a better stepping stone than Troy… and Mississippi State.

Probably, but we might have a chance to hire him in December depending on how things go in our season and others'.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that though.

He was worse than the previous coach in a watered down AAC. I don't see anything special there. That conference isn't very good anymore and they don't play anybody much.

We spoke to him and GJ Kinne. Sumral wanted a zero buyout clause if UK came open. As we were in discussions rumors were rampant that Stoops was headed to AM. GJ at the time has only been at TSU one year and before that one year at Incarnate Word. Also Baylor and Aranda was something to watch as Aranda needed a good season to keep his job.
Sumrall Lebby or Kinne last year was always going to be tough 2-4 win season
