I thought it was a very entertaining movie that had classic excellent Tarrantino mixed in with awful Tarrantino. The humor, dialogue and music was top notch. I thought the length was annoyingly long and some of the over the top gore hurt the film. The KKK scene when they are talking about the pillow case masks is one of the most hilarious scenes in any movie I've seen. Samuel Jackson, Jamie Foxx, DiCapprio and Christoph Waltz all had academy award performances. It's the best movie I've seen this year that falls a little short of Inglorious Bastards.

Can you really be disappointed when Quentin and Sammy L get together? I'm going to see it this weekend and I have ridiculous expectations for this film.

I loved it. I laughed all throughout the thing. It was long though, but, like the Hobbit, I never got tired of watching it.

DiCapprio should play a bad guy more often.

Saw This is 40 with the wife last Friday night. Laughed out loud all night. Best movie I've seen in quite a while.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. Wasn't completely blown away by the script* and there were a few moments where the music didn't really do it for me, but all in all it's a great film and definitely one of the year's best. No doubt, the KKK bit was hilarious, as was the final scene. It's a stretch to suggest that any movie has four award-worthy performances, but I can't necessarily disagree with you on this one. Samuel L. Jackson stole the show, Foxx owned the role of cowboy/slave, Waltz was magnificent as always, and DiCaprio was a pleasant surprise as the villain. A tad excessive with slurs, gore, and narrative, but ultimately that's what we've come to expect from Quentin Tarantino.

* - The script leaked online a while back... while I figured the movie would be great, I wasn't as impressed with the dialogue as I was with his previous stuff. Might've just been the excessive use of the "N" word, which sometimes felt like characters were saying it just to say it. Regardless, the performances more than made up for any faults on the page.

Anyone else find it strange that james remar was killed in one of the opening scenes but comes back way later in the film as ace?

I know it was two different characters but it wasnt like they changed his appearance all that much, other than shaving the beard.

I thought that was strange.

Thought it was Tarantino's best yet. Even better than Basterds. Every time the movie got serious, it would snap you back with some comedy. Agree that all 4 gave excellent performances.
