USAID hasn't even been defunded six months and traditional media is dying and leftist puppets are getting non-renewed (Colbert, Stern, Holt, Behar, Media Matters, etc). Makes you think.

Howard Stern did not have near the ROI that his Sirius contact paid him. $100 million a year and Sirius is constantly sending me offers to renew for $1 per month? Never made sense.

How long before our typical commentators come on with the " Trump is crushing free speech by canceling his opponents" ?? Who will be the first ? I can guess. Stern shoulda stuck with his stripper shows. Shock jock schtick is all he really had to offer

SiriusXM not renewing Stern's contract. Stern has been working hard to clean up his brand image of filth, but it looks like it is a little too late. Weinstein went down and it looks like many more will follow.
Maybe its not that he's woke or has anything to do with cleaning up his image. Since when has Sirius cared about what was said over their airwaves? He's 71 years old, been doing the Sirius gig since 2006 (19 years for you non math majors) and is at the end of a 5 year $500 MILLION contract. It's been rumored all year that he was thinking about it and he's commented on it too.

I'd walk away too and enjoy the CA$H

The Stern Schtick played out in the 90s. The Porn Star and Trump interviews from those days were RADIO GOLD.

But that all played out in the early aughts. You can't play at the margins and win big in media. Go hard or go home.

(There you go, Howie!)

How in the flying 17 did they think he was worth $100 million per year?

Good run. I liked him in small doses but the bit got old pretty quick. I'm sure he half asses a podcast and makes more money off it that I'll ever have my hands on.

should pornographic trash for "adults" only be broadcast over the airwaves without restriction?

If he's been getting $100 million a year for the most recent 5 years, it seems a tad bit of a stretch to say his schtick played out 20 or 30 years ago.

I've never cared much about him, other than some great musicians he's hosted, but obviously there has been a big audience thru the years.

1) I doubt anyone serious would say that Trump cancelled Stern.
2) It is bad for the US if any president weaponizes the judicial system against everyone who tells the truth about him.
3) It is bad for the US if any president also consistently attacks the parts of the judicial system that uphold the law instead of doing what he wants.
4) You could have easily not gotten any political responses by not inserting Trump into something that he was not in. You know, like instead of asking the question "how long before...", just sit back and see if in fact it turns that way without your assertion that it will...not everyone lives every freaking second of their life with a political lens applied to every situation...

More than one thing can be true...

Eh. Talk radio and podcasts are boring.

SiriusXM wants me to rate their talk radio channels but I’ve not listened to them.

When Big Steve shows up on the Grateful Dead channel, I immediately change it to another that’s playing music…

I've never been a Stern fan, but I'm not a hater either. He had his schtick/niche back in the day, and it wasn't for me. Since he's toned all that down I've tried to give him a shot but he's just an atrocious interviewer. Found no reason to watch him so I tuned elsewhere. Has he kept the raunchiness going this whole time since the Private Parts days?

The justice department has been weaponized by every administration at least since first term Obama possibly longer. This has been an abuse of power by all of them.

You know it can't be anything as simple as that. It has to be something deep-seated and culture war related.

I would agree to some extent and argue that the scale of what we are seeing is much greater now and we should care about the continued escalation in both frequency and seriousness regardless of who is doing the abusing. It does anger me that the extreme ends of our political spectrum make joking memes about their people's abuse rather than calling it out. It's OK to call out things that are bad and wrong, no matter who is being bad or wrong...

His celebrity interviews and especially the musicians (and their live performances) were all that was good the past 10 years or so.
There is 1 exception though : He had Dave Matthews on the show to play Pirate Looks at 40 some time after Jimmy Buffett died. It was awful. And I have nothing against Dave but his style is just not compatible w/ Jimmy. So Howard just gushes, saying he never listened to Jimmy Buffett and suddenly Dave Matthews made him a fan. It was pretty stupid, and I can't describe how bad the cover was.

But aside from that, all the staged staff arguments, the politics, and the senior citizen trying to be "edgy" just didn't work anymore.
I can't believe those idiots paid him $100M/year (I assume that's for the whole staff?). I think he actually only worked like 2 weeks/month or maybe less.

I think Dave did that at the Rock HOF if I'm remembering correctly, and yes, I also thought it was awful, and I'm also not a Dave hater.

I'm not sure I've heard Howard Stern's name since the news that he signed whatever massive deal it was.
Hard to see how he's worth what he's paid, but I also don't see how Stephen A. Smith is worth what he's paid or how Tom Brady is worth more as an analyst than he was as a QB.

Edit: I don't resent any of them for making money. More power to them. I assume the people authorizing those checks have good reasons, but I just don't see it.

I agree. So did you feel it was bad or wrong when that guy took quite a few shots at President Trump in Pennsylvania, killing a guy and injuring others??

I was kinda confused on that day based on the things you were posting.

(No, I haven't forgotten).

He's not for everyone that's for sure but the Mrs. Butterface contest is the single best thing Stern ever did...........This is NSFW...........Artie gets absolutely hammered and Rob Schneider is hilarious..............
