people thought the egg had a crack in it but it was just debris from the nest. Dad was sitting on the eggs last night for a time as the mother was agitated and needed a break

I think he was misinformed about that.

Horrible news. The two eggs at Big Bear are gone.....a raven.
They're saying that there's a possibility that Jackie will lay another few eggs. But that it may take as long as a month for that to happen.
BTW, people should note that in my post about the ravens the word "RAVEN" was not capitalized. If it was one of the Baltimore football players that did the deed I would have capitalized raven.

The eaglet's welcome to the world is two feet of snow.
Mom and dad have their work cut out for them.

Just saw the chick. It's sure not winning any beauty contests! Hope it and the remaining one thrive.

Really concerned about that as there has been a major die off of geese and other water fowl due to bird flu just across the river from Duke Estate at Duke Island Park - trails closed due to dead birds. I am hoping that this duck was not one of the bird flu victims as that will jeopardize the parents and the hatchling. I have read that some eagles have survived bird flu and have immunity, so hoping for the best.

There’s a huge eagle nest here in Marco Island on Bald Eagle Dr of course. As we were standing there looking at it an eagle flew out of the nest right over our heads. Pretty cool. Like dolphins and fighter jets I always love seeing them

Jackie has come through with the first egg of a second batch after the disaster that struck the first one at Big Bear.. (y)

Walked out my front door last month to a giant Eagle swooping into my neighbors yard.

I did a double take as I live in Audubon (South Jersey) which is a really congested area developed a long time ago with houses on top of each other.

Turns out the nest this year is right down the street from me. There’s a small Lake 4 blocks down the road that is stocked with fish and we are a few miles from the Delaware River so I guess that’s where they get their food / water source from. I’ll try to get a picture one of these days.

There are also a few owls that I’ve heard late at night which is pretty cool.

So it looks like there will only be 1 eaglet for the Duke Farms eagles this season. There is still an unhatched egg in the nest but the likelihood that it is still viable is slim. The only child has been eating like a pig.

I think they've officially declared the remaining egg non-viable.
So, there won't be any fighting over food in this nest this season.

Non-viable egg is still in the nest and the chick is getting bigger.
