My in laws got a much better price for their old Camry from CarShop in South Brunswick vs CarMax in Edison
We have received several quotes on the car we are looking to sell. CarShop was a waste of time. We had a 2:30 appointment. We waited for 20 minutes for our appointment with the store completely empty, and we finally asked a manager for assistant. They seemed disorganized. Someone else finally helped us, and gave a ridiculous lowball offer making a list of reasons why they lowballed us. We said no thanks and walked out. Impressive facility, spotlessly clean, and nice Toto toilets in the bathrooms (maybe that was a sign). Just a complete waste of time for us. Everybody's situation is a little different, but we would never do business with them again, except to use their bathroom.

More updates. I tried to hire an electrician to install a transfer switch and use my Lighting as a generator. His response was “I’m not interested in that business”. He said he heard it doesn’t work. Will have to dial another guy.

@Knight Shift btw, the trifold cover already had a set back. Can’t tilt items out of the truck with it on. Had to completely remove it to do it. Will buy a ratchet strap so I can leave the tailgate down.

My Lightning is still hanging out in Port Wilmington, DE. One or two more steps before it is ready for pickup. Think that the delivery will be early in the Nov. 6-12 window Ford provided.

What is the inconvenient truth? Sounds like a bunch of hand waving NIMBYs.

"Where is the scientific data that says this is safe?" one local woman asked Tracy. Another homeowner said, "Asking Talon or asking any mining company about how they're going to take care of the community and the environment is kind of like asking the fox how he's taking care of the chicken coop."

An interesting Twitter thread follows. Obviously conjectural, but worth some thought

Definitely worth some thought.
We're already seeing ICE sales decline over the past 5 years. Is this macroeconomic related, EV related, or both? Time will tell as supply chain issues improve, but the impact to legacy auto will be real and causalities are likely.

As demand for ICE vehicles decreases, legacy auto will be faced with 2 choices:
1. Reduce ICE prices. Problem with that is margins for ICE vehicle sales are already razor thin
2. Reduce ICE supply. With this, legacy auto loses their economies of scale

While simultaneously juggling those 2 hurdles, legacy will have to increase spending/ investments on EVs and likely losing even more money in the process.

Going to be very interesting how this play out. Consolidations, mergers, and bankruptcies are on the horizon IMO.

I'm shocked to discover that you're against free enterprise. This mining company is simply trying to exercise its constitutional right to conduct business as it sees fit.

I guess you're one of those people who wants more regulations on companies so that nobody's feelings get hurt.
He’s been infected by long term exposure to those darn CA liberals with their darn tree hugging, whale saving, Greenpeace funding, baby-killing liberalism. Next thing you know, he’ll be up in Seattle, wearing patchouli oil, and lighting rags on fire on the steps of a courthouse while protesting rioting in the blue war on blacks.

You know where this all leads, right? He’ll be wearing, gasp, cargo shorts before we know it. 😱

Reduce ICE prices? Great! Why didn’t you say so in the first place? Whatever makes it easier for me to buy a gas guzzling, carbon-spewing, noise-polluting GT3 RS. You know, with it’s razor thin margins.

Every time I look at it, I think “April Fools joke”. 😀

That some people will actually buy it cracks me up. 🤣

Think you are being short-sighted and overly critical. Here is why it will be bought:

Base model $39,900.

The three-motor model, which Tesla says will essentially teleport from zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds (!) with a top speed of 130 mph.

All Cybertrucks have an adjustable air suspension that can be raised or lowered on the fly and provides up to 16 inches of ground clearance.

the top-tier tri-motor setup should provide more than 500 miles on a single charge.

If one can get over the looks, it appears to have a lot of features that will make it a fun drive and off road vehicle.

It’s uglier than a cockroach with leprosy.

I'm going to give you dose of your own medicine. Read the last line of my post above. I don't disagree with you on the looks. If one can get over the looks, the vehicle has a lot of wow factor.

I can’t get over the looks. That’s the whole point. It could have all those other benefits you mentioned and not look like it was designed by Picasso trying and failing to emulate Escher while on a bad acid trip.

But I’m always happy take my own medicine. I mean, I look a lot like I was designed by Picasso the morning after drinking a pitcher of cheap tequila.
