Sounds like a disaster. I didn’t read entire article but have seen reports that Musk now thinks cordless charging likely the future and would be less expensive so expanding current charging stations may be a waste.

Interesting. Mine advertises PHL pickup and I think I paid an airport fee.I’ve used it. Crazy cheap. I don’t know how those guys make money. Only issue was had to meet the owner offsite because airport does not allow it.

Following the Uber modelIt’s probably being subsidized to gain market share
But how close are we to this? 5 years? 10 years? How many EV's have and will be sold before this becomes ubiquitous?Sounds like a disaster. I met the owner at a gas station near LAX. No biggie but would have been better if I did pick-up right outside terminal. Maybe my guy didnt want to deal with the airport fee?Interesting. Mine advertises PHL pickup and I think I paid an airport fee.
we're not close, not even by a long shot unless you want to leave your car for 48hrs to chargeBut how close are we to this? 5 years? 10 years? How many EV's have and will be sold before this becomes ubiquitous?
They’ve also started hiring back parts of the supercharger team that was just fired. My guess is this becomes similar to when everyone was fired at Twitter and the hysteria that it was going to be offline in days. But how close are we to this? 5 years? 10 years? Is that a favorable comparison though? They’ve also started hiring back parts of the supercharger team that was just fired. My guess is this becomes similar to when everyone was fired at Twitter and the hysteria that it was going to be offline in days.
Doubt very much that is the reason. Even if it were the footprint of the current supercharger sites could be modified. My gut tells me the reason for the layoffs is much simpler - Musk asks the manager to reduce staff - instead of complying and getting rid of the poor workers (every department has them) she refused. He got pissed and fired the whole department. He certainly has a quick finger and big ego - kind of like the guy who developed the iPhone.Sounds like a disaster. Tech wise yes. Twitter cut staff and improved their product. Is that a favorable comparison though?
That’s the theory the fired insiders corroborated in the linked story above. That's one theory.
Finally saw one live yesterday in Sedona, AZ. It is indeed ugly. CT may not be long for the world.
Cybertruck will be another casualty of Tesla’s Supercharger pullback
Tesla’s hot new flagship vehicle, the Cybertruck, comes with some big charging improvements. But those improvements are incompatible with most of Tesla’s existing Supercharger network, and now that Tesla is pulling back on its Supercharger rollout, it may leave Cybertruck out in the cold.
But most of Tesla’s Superchargers don’t support 800V – at least the ones from the previous three generations. Tesla’s new V4 Superchargers do support 800V charging, but they still make up a small percentage of Supercharger sites.
Not only does V4 support 800V it also has a longer cable. Tesla’s V1-V3 Superchargers have cables that only reach a few feet from the charging unit, meaning you need to back in pretty close to them in order to plug in.
I did not read that story - Just using my experience with those type of layoffs. That’s the theory the fired insiders corroborated in the linked story above.
“The meeting could not have gone worse. Musk, the employees said, was not pleased with Tinucci’s presentation and wanted more layoffs. When she balked, saying deeper cuts would undermine charging-business fundamentals, he responded by firing her and her entire 500-member team”
I guess you are not at any of the ones in Cal that had their cables stolen! Good to hear. Do you have a Tesla- sorry if I missed that.I’m currently on a road trip between Nor Cal and Southern Utah. All of the superchargers I’ve been to have longer charging cables.

I won't delve into twitter here.Tech wise yes. Twitter cut staff and improved their product.

it's a sign of being impulsive. If he didn't like her presentation and strategy, he could have fired her and brought in someone to execute what he wanted. getting rid of the whole division or whatever group that constituted in the org, is an overreaction and a sign of immaturity. The presentation is an added part of this.
But I guess in general, yes Musk was looking for cuts.
Every great salesperson is great at BS.Fun article, objectively testing Tesla’s marketing video showing a Cybertruck beating a 911 in a drag race while towing a 911. They carefully redid the test.
The 911, which is the slowest of all 911s by the way, wins. Not exactly shocking to yet again catch Tesla lying to the public.
One of many.it's a sign of being impulsive. If he didn't like her presentation and strategy, he could have fired her and brought in someone to execute what he wanted. getting rid of the whole division or whatever group that constituted in the org, is an overreaction and a sign of immaturity.
I’ll be interested to see the results of the shareholder vote to see how these things are impacting people’s faith in his leadership. One of many.
But given the company has seen it's sales decline and was already laying off workers, I do think it's fair to say he went into that meeting with the intentions of laying off workers, or at least the possibility of it.
Firing everybody though? Yeah, that sounds like an overreaction.
Company is in cost cutting mode per Musk. It’s an easy way to save a lot of moneyI’ll be interested to see the results of the shareholder vote to see how these things are impacting people’s faith in his leadership.
In what way is Twitter better now?Tech wise yes. Twitter cut staff and improved their product.
It’s really not. It’s almost exactly the same except there is a massive amount more porn accounts. In what way is Twitter better now?
Longer form tweets and enhanced media sharing across the app are probably the two biggest improvements. . There’s so much more video content available now. People forget it was pretty much a text/picture only app not long ago.In what way is Twitter better now?
And releasing the reigns of government influence on content. The ability to customize your own timeline is my personal favorite. The addition of the For You page and ability to build your own lists that you can swipe to have made my feed so much clearer. For You does a pretty good job of showing similar accounts you might want to follow and alternately the lists allow you to filter out noise if you want to get right to a certain set of follows.
If you don’t use Twitter chats you’d never notice this, but adding the ability to reply to messages inside chats was a small but impactful change that made chats more usable. Video and image sharing within chats as well.

i did? Hm.You out of all people ...contradicted yourself there![]()
Name which ones predated the acquisition.i did? Hm.
Anyway, what I meant is that functionally and operationally, it’s almost no different. Most of the stuff mentioned above as being new predated the Musk acquisition. And the government has as much or more impact on Twitter now as it did before.
But yeah, there are huge numbers of accounts that post porn, although not sure that was due to any change so much as natural growth (no pun intended).
Custom lists (I was doing that for like a decade before Musk). Video, customizing my own timeline.Name which ones predated the acquisition.
We will go with community notes since you agreed and long form tweets since that’s undeniable. Add in that Twitter didn’t go offline as many had feared and didn’t lose market share to Facebook Threads, remember when that was a thing?Custom lists (I was doing that for like a decade before Musk). Video, customizing my own timeline.
The only new feature of note is the community notes thing.
muting and blocking people who you don't want to hear from is key. I have shared a number of times, that I find X to be a tremendous resource for keeping up on the latest on diet, exercise, overall longevity (quality of lifespan), lipidology, dibetes management, college sports and the Mets. I do follow selected political accounts, but if they get too far on one side or the other, I stop the follows, and usually turn off reposts for these accounts. It has been a great experience, and IMO, it improved tremendously when EM took over.Twitter always was a cesspool of misinformation. I used to get mostly news feeds and would try to sift through the news from propaganda/trolling. Now, the disinformation element seems much worse since so many news-oriented posters left the platform. In the category of old boss same as the new boss, Musk has replaced Trump as Troller-in-Chief.
I’ve noticed my Twitter feed now seems to be a lot more long-form multi-post threads on a variety of topics. Some of these are really good; others are advertisements. But there is a lot less news these days.
I do like the Community Notes feature. If anything, it gives the trolls a place to rant and rave outside of the normal feed.
