Did they catch the person who committed the arson? If not, then how does Musk know the party affiliation if any, of the arsonist?
Seriously? This **** started when Musk became part of Doge and Trump's team, simple.

So earlier this month we were in Colorado on a ski trip. Rented a "mystery" car to save a couple bucks. Got there and the Mach E Mustang was one of the options, we said "cool", let's test this thing out. Got in and the charge was at 50%. Lame but surely that will get us 90 miles to Breckenridge right? Wrong.

As we got down to 7% and were still however far from the mountain(actually got a day skiing in at Keystone) we were scrambling looking for chargers in the area. Wondering what happens if we run out of charge while on the interstate.

We were pretty sure this Mustang was not super charger compatible so we rolled into a chargepoint charging station near Keystone. Would have been nice if they had chargers directly on the Mt, in which case we could have charged while riding but alas, there were none. So we plugged in, chilled out for a bit, started to get out gear on, went inside the hotel where the charger was, I had a free coffee, stretched out a little. After about 45 minutes we were at 11% charge. Wtf?

Also while we were charging a lady rolled up next to us, with the exact same story. On their way to skiing, and forced to pit stop for however long as their EV's power gauge ran precariously low.

So eventually we figured that we were close enough to Breck that we could unplug, go ski, and then just make it to our final destination on the meager charge we had attained.....but once in Breck we were going to need to charge up for real. Unfortuneately no option at our Air BNB.

So we hit up another chargepoint which again slow charged us up to 30 something % in a couple hours, but this was in a parking garage with no overnight parking. So we moved it again to a town lot that had a charger and from what we could tell overnight parking. Which seemed great, but what was unclear was that at a certain time, the charge rate went from nearly nothing per hour to $20 per hour. So when we picked up the car in the morning, the charge cost us $180......and we were not even 100% charged. 87% I think. Again, Wtf?

So moral of my story was, f*ck EV rentals. And f*ck the current charging infrastructure. The chargepoint stations were near useless in terms of intraday fillup. There is definite lifestyle change that needs to accompany EV use, and on a short vacation in which in house charging was not available this could not have been more inconvenient.

Sorry to hear. EV road trips need planning. Btw, all EVs can charge at a supercharger. You just need to find the right one. That’s the planning part. Plus you add in the cold , the mountains and only 50% charged, it was doomed at the start.

Terrible story. I'll naively say a rental company should only rent fully charged (or close to it) EVs. Or offer an ICE car, assuming they have one.

One of many arsonists was caught because he set himself on fire. All the Anti-Trump graf was part of the scene. The arsons are taking place all over the country. An interactive map of Tesla owners and their homes was made. These arsons are taking place while dozens of swattings (and one murder) have been taking place. These are now accompanied by renegade lower court kooks unconstitutionally demanding return of deported violent gangs. Its all coordinated domestic terrorism and many expected it. False flag due soon.

I'm sure it makes people who own them feel warm and fuzzy but they are not practical rentals except for very short trips. Also I would complain loudly about being a given a car with a 50% charge that needed hours to reach full charge. That's messed up.

Ya Avis effed us with the 50% charge out of the gate.

Probably would have been a non issue otherwise.

Ya my buddy did the renting but I strongly advised calling and bitching out whoever. Probably could have gotten a discount

Not sure if he ever made the call.

The don't matter (to me, at least). I just want Musk to either drop the political BS and focus on Tesla or step down. His current approach is clearly not working well for shareholders.

Doesn't matter which side any CEO takes, when they wade into politics, it's always going to piss off half the nation.

Another reasonable-starting post that shifted erratically into lunatic conspiracy.

He’s not wading. Musk is trying to consume an ocean.

True. And it's not just potential Tesla customers in the US who are unhappy with him. TBH, I'm not even sure that his stepping aside would, at this point, bring some of the lost future customers back to the brand. I suspect it'll take awhile for many people at home and abroad.

There are many other options abroad and their own brand preferences. It's hard to build a brand foothold in auto. All it takes is a few months to piss it away apparently.

Cybertruck is a disaster. Need a new product that can generate interest. What happened with the sports car?
I like the Roadster's styling - by far my favorite styling effort by Tesla. But some of the stated specs seem unreachable, at least in the near future.

If it's car-designs reflect the inner state of Musk's mind these days, it's no surprise Tesla prioritized the CT over the Roadster 2.

I glad they finally changed the nose. I like the redesign. Describing the interior as minimalist is like describing a house cozy. LOL

I remember the good old days when EV haters keyed Teslas or block charging spot. Tesla is now hated by both sides.

Remember when everyone said Elon was an idiot for buying Twitter and ruining it? I see X is back to his purchased valuation plus another 2x for what xAI has become. Seems like he figured out how to make that work. I think he’s gone a bit overboard this time but still won’t bet against him turning it around for Tesla.

Absolutely...what's great is seeing keyboard warriors proven wrong time and time again about his genius and decision making. Guy saved free speech

When an entrepreneur gets in trouble people often ridicule them.
But many famous entrepreneurs say that unless someone has failed they aren't really an entrepreneur yet.

I found Musk's biography free on my paid Spotify and listened to it.
All the genius stuff aside, Musk has the balls of a brass monkey - been in serious trouble lots of times but hangs in like a pit bull.

There is a fee if not logged-in (i never had to pay with basic account)
