"Pumpkin Spice" anything.....is of the Devil.

The best foods of autumn:

Boiled peanuts
Sweet taters

That is all.
We think a lot alike. All of the women in my office have been talking about 'pumpkin spice' crap for weeks, they can't wait for it to hit the shelves. Just the scent of it makes me want to barf. I just bought a new freezer that will be fully stocked with boiled peanuts soon too. I'm down to 2 bags from last years crop so I need to get it done soon for football games.

Curby is rightfully excited about the best time of the year, but fall doesn't really start until Halloween in the south. September and the first half of October is the extended summer and tropical storm season.

It starts in a few weeks up here and I am getting wood just thinking about it. By far my favorite time of year.

The aspens turn first, the tamaracks shortly after... The shadows get long, the bulls start bugling, and the trout rise all day. You wear shorts and a sweatshirt to the football game and breakout a blanket for your legs at halftime when the sun fades away. The golf courses are pristine, soft, and wide open. The hiking trails are completely empty and leaf covered. The bears are fattening up, the bucks are still roaming around in packs, and the birds have already headed south. By Halloween the snow starts to fly and it's all but over, but for the 7-8 weeks before hand, it's unbelievable. The light, color, and weather is otherworldly... Nothing beats fall in the mountains.

If it sounds like fun come meet some friends and I in Sun Valley in a month for the Mahogany Dun hatch on Silver Creek or join my whole family the 2nd weekend of October in West Yellowstone for the annual trip to fish the Madison, Firehole, Gibbon, and Henry's Fork.

As far as food... All things BBQ, trout, fall veggies, a 17ing short rib ragu will hit the spot... And as mentioned chili is king.

Here's to tight lines, full bellies, and football.

I forgot crockpot cheese dip and buffalo dip.

My favorite cheese dip so far is one my daughter makes with queso, bell and jalepeno peppers, chorizo, black beans and kidney beans. A meal in itself.

never liked slimy boiled peanuts. you can have all of them. what a waste of peanuts.
Don't buy them out of a can. Slow boil them over night with Cajun seasoning.

And sweet potatoes and cinnamon are basically what they make pumpkin spice out of so don't make fun of the ladies because you is one.

Grill a brat or your fav link sausage, wrap that in a slightly grilled tortilla with grilled onions and mustard.
