I am watching Donnie Brasco (1997) and Al Pacino is just great as Lefty.

Definitely an amazing actor.

I’m assuming there are plenty of Pacino fans on here, so I’m wondering what folks rank as their favorites. (To keep things simple, Michael is one role BUT it can be split into “a” and “b”.)

My favorites:

1. Scent of a Woman (Frank Slade)
2. Carlito’s Way
3a. The Godfather
3b The Godfather Part II
4. Donnie Brasco (Lefty)
5. Insomnia (Will Dormer)

I'd add Scarface and Heat (She got a GREAT ***!!!) and drop Insomnia and Carlito's Way.

Agree with Scent of a Woman as 1.

Nah , carlito’s way is one of the greatest acting jobs of all time. He played a guy of a different race. Legendary !

Godfather
Carlito’s way
Scent of a woman (one of the best thanksgiving movies ever)
Any given Sunday (how can you not get pumped up with that lockeroom speech)
Godfather 2

What no fans of his paterno role ?

Carlito’s Way is a great movie.

I don’t think Puerto Rican’s are necessarily “a different race” but he would not be able to play that role (or Scarface) today.

And Justice For All. If, for no other reason, Pacino’s Opening statement scene. One of the best scenes in movie history IMHO.
Scarface
Heat
Scent of a Woman
Dog Day Afternoon
