I'll get blasted on the board for saying this but <17> it:
First let me say that I understand the Stooges are classic and absolutely cannot be replicated. They are untouchable, an American icon. However, I took my 11-year-old son and 83-year-old father to see the movie with me. I felt like the Farrelly brothers did an excellent job with the casting to come as close as possible to the looks, voices, and mannerisms of the Stooges. The comedic timing was also very good. As remakes go, it was well done (remember the abortions that were the Dukes of Hazzard and Charlies Angels movies). Does it match the old originals? Of course not. However, it was still a pretty good movie if you like the Stooge style comedy. The Jersey Shore idiots were the only part that just didn't fit in. It was well done for what it is. It isn't classic, heartwarming, suspenseful, or some great cinematic masterpiece. But the Stooges aren't supposed to be. They aren't Gone With the Wind, The Godfather, Forrest Gump, etc. They are the Stooges. What makes them classic (the original Stooges) is that there is no great storyline or deep meaning. They are just <17>ing idiots doing some of the funniest stuff imaginable. Good ole slapstick humor. The movie did a pretty good job trying to remake something that can't and probably shouldn't be remade.
