OT: Ford F150 Alarm

I'm helping sell my father in laws 2012 F150. Any time I unlock the door, I have about 10 seconds to start it before the alarm goes off. I've searched YouTube and Google for an answer and tried to reset the anti-theft system. It didn't work. I tested the battery but the battery is fine.

Before I haul it up to the dealership, any other ideas on what I can do to stop the alarm from going off?

Does it do this whether it's the driver door or the passenger door ?

ETA : also check your tailgate wiring

It sounds like you are unlocking it with the key. I don’t know of a workaround when using the key. The only way you can unlock it without the alarm going off is using the key fob or typing in the code on the keypad.

For some vehicles, If you're not unlocking it with the fob, the alarm will go off unless you start it immediately with the key.

That ain't it. He's unlocking it with the key and the only way around it is to unlock it with the fob or punch in the code on the key pad if the truck has the key pad. It's some kind of safety feature they added and that's all you can really do.

it is absolutely the key fob battery after I accidently had my fob go through the washer it did the same thing. If the fob is bad, it is like $300 to replace.

I can program them in 30 seconds and so can you. I will only charge you $150 to do it :)

To program a Ford F150 key fob, you'll need to cycle the ignition key from "off" to "run" eight times within 10 seconds, ending in the "run" position. This will trigger the door locks to cycle, indicating that the vehicle has entered programming mode. Then, within 20 seconds, press any button on the key fob to program it. If you have additional fobs, repeat this step for each one within the 20-second window. Finally, turn the ignition key to "off" to exit programming mode.





Search YouTube for your year F150 like this "F150 2004 key fob program"

I ended up calling 3 different Ford dealerships today and received ranges from $216 to $425 for a new key fob. I'm thinking the $216 didn't include programming. The quote I received for programming was $175. Thanks for the insight on this. Seems to be a bit of a racket but I'll figure something out to get this truck sold.
