OT: giving out expired Halloween candy to kids--really?

I don't think there is anything wrong with checking your kids candy. In fact it is good parenting! There are a lot of asses out there who deliberately try to hurt these kids with pins, razor blades and various chemicals. That said if you find something objectionable, as above, just throw it the heck out. If it is dangerous contact your local PD. But in no way come to a football message board and whine about it. Go vent to the accused or take a crap on their stairs but don't look for message board support. Just another "Look at Me" post.
How about not worry about it since it was free. You seem to think you are owed something for Halloween.
Yeah obviously he should burn their house down for giving out expired candy. Imagine how pissed he must get when his EBT check is late! My Word!
American candy bars for the most part are disgusting (particularly anything made by Hersheys, can't stand Hershey's chocolate). For cheap and better tasting alternative go with chocolate made by cadbury's (like most of the rest of the world). If I eat chocolate it's either the good stuff or none at all.

Some people don't eat candy. So it's probably the Halloween candy they didn't use from last year. Anything up to 18 months past the expiration date is fine.
Well if you bothered to check daily news reports you would find that pins were found in candy this years as well as pills and other items. So remove your head from your so called *** and read before you post. Just saying!!
Funny, but it's true of all goods. That date on the top means less than most people think.
I once saw on the news that someone was killed during a home invasion. Which is why I now always answer the door screaming, "PLEASE DON'T F@CKING KILL ME!, TAKE WHATEVER YOU WANT!" I think it's starting to annoy my wife.
I don't know if I would make an issue of it on this board, but I don't think one can accidentally give out stale candy. That likely means it was recycled from the previous year. It surely wasn't purchased that way. Not if it's a whole year or two old.

Yeah, and bacon. And cold cuts. And meat in quantities beyond what you'd feed to a grasshopper. And cooking on nonstick surfaces. And storing food in plastics. And drinking water. And breathing the air.
Basically, getting out of bed in the morning is carcinogenic. But so is staying in bed. So we're fvcked no matter what we do. My recommendation is to have a lot of sex and enjoy life while it lasts.
I love when my wife asks me whether we should throw out milk that is past the sell by date. I have her hand me the carton, smell it, and tell her it is perfectly fine. Milk turns sour when it is no longer any good. Pretty simple concept that seems to be beyond her comprehension. As long as the candy has been stored in a cool spot, I'd have no problem eating out of date stuff. And I'm sure that I wouldn't even notice.
We must have married sisters.
My wife throws out canned goods on their expiration date too. It's a battle I've stopped waging.
Exsctly. 99 percent of these cases are pranks by the kids themselves. The only kid to ever be seriously harmed by tainted candy was killed by his father for insurance money. He tried to use the urban legends to cover up the murder.

Easy there, Captain run-on sentence. Don't work yourself into a froth. Your post is stupid because you believe doctored Halloween candy is an appreciable danger despite all evidence to the contrary.
Pretty funny! And my mother was the exact opposite. We'd pour a bowl of cereal in the morning, add the milk, and take 1 bite before realizing that the milk was hopelessly sour. She say it was fine. I'd have to get her to smell it before she would agree to pour it down the drain. Different generations.

OK, there grammar police. I checked my kids candy and will check my grand kids candy. Nothing to do with urban legend just feel it is a smart thing to do as a responsible parent! I think every parent sifts through the pile of candy. I've tossed out a few pieces pretty much every year. I think that is different than doing it with the idea you're gonna find a hypodermic needle in your Charleston Chew.
Did the same, with kids giving me the evil eye for picking out ones I liked and eating them while checking .
So many posters in this thread sound like they hate Halloween. Gathering candy isn't charity, the young people do a lot of hustling to get it. My answer to the OP is to not bother. The person giving it out is probably an evil person. Skip that house next year.
