An update. We stood up and she's tall. 6' range. Our sideline talent has improved.

**edited to add** Taylor Corley's old roomate. Im 99% sure (a little drunj) that its the girl on the far left that is back on the squad after a hiatus. And she was a cool girl

They're really only doing the young lady a disservice by feeling sorry for her and letting her on the squad. They are really just opening her up for ridicule, from people like me/us, on the internet and possibly in public. I feel sorry for her but that's just the reality of the situation. May God have mercy on our souls.

Obviously she was given a spot because they felt sorry for her. Give me a break.

It's kind of hard to see how a girl with her body type could be though. In any case, they definitely didn't do the poor girl any favors by letting her on the squad. I feel bad for her for the public ridicule she's gotten. I'm sorry that this isn't politically correct, but there has to be a minimum level of hotness for a cheerleader.

Sorry, but again, that's the reality of cheerleading. I don't care how good she is at leg kicks and waving pom poms, cheerleading is not meant for obese girls. If you can't accept that then that's fine with me but that's just the way it is. I'm sure it's a delicate issue with the cheer "coaches." I don't envy them having to make those decisions.

It's just very hard for me to see how a girl with her body type could possibly be good at the stunts, flips, tosses, etc. that a good cheerleader has to do.

and not a pom girl? Pom teams sometimes use avery similar outfit for some events and you can befat and be on pom. Also, I noticed none of the male cheerleaders in the pic, which again leads me to believe it could be the pom squad.

Cheerleading is cut-throat, there is no feeling sorry for fat girls, if she is on the cheer team it is b/c they needed a base or she can tumble, I have seen rare circumstances where bigger girls can tumble quite well.

There's also a big'un on the pom squad though not quite as big.

But I don't think you have the first %+#$@!@ clue what goes in to choosing the cheerleading squad. I find it hard to believe they let her on the team because they felt bad for her. That's a joke.

She was on the all-female squad. Do really know how to build a good all-female squad?<div>
</div><div>Maybe everyone else is a much bigger cheerleading expert than me, and the coaches did just decide, "You know, we really should just let on one fat girl, even though she'll make the squad worse." I highly doubt they are that superficial or care about their job so little.</div>

you should be attractive and physically fit. To me that should be one of the 1st criteria looked at. I don't even need to see half of them perform before I make the first cut. If you are obese and look like a man, I am going to cut you. Tough **** it is the way of the world.

She may have more cheering talent than any girl on the squad, great, I tell her to get down to target weight and we will give it a shot next season.

WTF do I care what goes into putting together a good cheering team. Put me a group of girls that I like to look at going into or out of a commercial during a game and you have put together a good cheering team for 99.9% of the males that watch sporting events.

I don't know 'how' to build a good female squad anymore than I know how to build a National Champion football team. But I know one when I see it and that's not a good female squad. Why? Because I have eyes. And don't blame me for the standard.

I guarantee the people who actually pick the cheerleading squad don't go about it the way you just described, so what does that have to do with anything?

All that means is that you don't think she should be on the squad. It doesn't mean that she is on the squad just because the coaches felt sorry for her because she was fat.<div>
</div><div>If y'all want to say she shouldn't be on the squad, have at it. I think it's pretty damn mean to do on a public forum, but I'm not about to startcampaigningto get people to be nice on the internet. However, if you say she's only on the squad out of pity, I think you're full of **** and don't have the first damn clue what you're talking about.</div>

looks and weight into the equation. Say what you want but it happens in every type of interview or screening. It has been proven time and time again.

Sorry that you panties are in a wad that people on here have a problem with obese women on our cheer team but that is life.

you are right, I don't know what goes into choosing a cheer squad but I do know one thing that SHOULD go into it and that's physical fitness. I don't care how many girls she can support on one hand, she's fat, bottom line, cut her. There are plenty of fit girls that accomplish the same **** she can.

I will concede that I shouldn't have implied that she was on the squad out of pity. My point was that she was being done a disservice because people (like myself) will give her a hard time about it. I didn't and wouldn't have started the thread but since someone else did, I'll weigh in (pun intended). And again, you're right, I have no clue what I'm talking about regarding building a solid cheer squad. I admit that but if I lost my job and the only thing I could do was become a cheer coach... I'd start by cutting the fat ones. I guess we'll never know how I'd do long term.

I didn'tdisagreewith the part of your post about thedisserviceon purpose because I don't totally disagree with that. My only response to that is that I'm sure she knew she would be the "fat cheerleader" and decided to do it anyway. So, I don't think she should be cut to spare her feelings either.<div>
</div><div>If people think she should be cut because cheerleaders should be eye candy for the fans, that's fine. I don't really care one way or the other. We could have no cheerleaders for all I care.</div>
