Anyone live in or been there? I have 2 separate job interviews there in the next week. From everything I've read it seems like a cool place, but I don't know how much of that is fluff.

No experience in Greenville, but if I'm a new grad and someone in Greenville will write me a check every 2 weeks, I'm in!

Had a co-worker that moved there after he left our company many years ago and he

loved the place. Of course he was from NYC.

I graduated from MSU in 78 and have lived in SC since. I did spend 4 years in the Greenville area and I loved it there. It is a great area.

The city itself is small ... only about 61,000. But that doesn't tell the true story. The MSA is about 800,000 and the CSA is almost 1.5 million. So in reality, it's much larger than the Mobile area ... more the size of Louisville (and that's NOT Lewis-vuuuuuul).

Interview lasted over an hour and they told me they'd get back to me in a matter of 24 hours. If they offer it I'm there.

Was that a telephone interview? If so, perhaps you'll further consideration by being asked to visit the company. Good luck. And it's also closer to Starkville (for home games) than NYC is. Still a bit of a hike, but feasible.

Man I lived there for two years and absolutely loved it. Now I'm back in Jackson, and had we not been drawn back to Jackson because of a family issue, I'd have been happy to make my career there and retire there. It's simply fantastic. High quality of life. Not only is the city itself great, but the areas around it are wonderful. 1.5 hours to Asheville, 2 to Atlanta and Charlotte. 3.5 to Charleston.

Downtown Greenville is something to mimic. Lots of development; Main Street is the place to be; the park downtown, Falls Park, is an awesome waterfall.

PM me for any question

My brother lives there, and I've spent quite a lot of time there. Can't say enough good about it. I'd live there in a heartbeat if I had the choice.

I live an hour away and don't get there as much as I'd like. GSP is a great area with a ton to do (outdoors, bars, restaurants, music, etc).

Move there yesterday. One of the true hidden gems in America. My favorite town to travel for work. The best planned downtown in america

I'm 22. Is it cool in a "I could settle here" way, "this place is the tits" way, or a little of both? My only reservation at this point is potentially making friends, which it seems like in a town of 60,000 it might be hard to do. I realize Greenville is actually bigger factoring in the surrounding area, but still. How's the nightlife? I realize I'd be working a lot but that's the key. I enjoy a good restaurant scene but they're not that great when you don't have anyone to go with you.

I live in Columbia/Lexington but I frequently travel to Greenville. I like Greenville, seems to be a nice place. The cool thing about South Carolina, Columbia especially, you can be in the mountains in two hours or the beach in two hours. Some great deer hunting, ok duck hunting, great dove hunting, fantastic fishing, whether it be Lake Murray, Santee or the offshore.

Greenville still has a smaller town feel, but with city type amenities and it's growing. BMW, Michelin, TD Bank, Certus, Flour, GE, new medical school, etc... The downtown has a ton of bars, restaurants, shops, art galleries, etc...it's all walkable as well. And none of that chain type BS either. Baseball stadium downtown plus the Peace Center where they get some really good acts and shows. There is a good young professional crowd and good talent as well. Plenty of lakes and mountains within 20-30 minutes and the climate is much more temperate than the swampiness of Mississippi or the low country. PM me if you make the move. Also, live Downtown.

It's definitely a "I could settle there" place and can be "the tits" if you love the outdoors. If you're kind of "meh" to proximity to the mountains and waterfalls, and nightlife is what you're looking for, Charleston definitely outranks Greenville in South Carolina.

But if your MO is nightlife and meeting people, why not Seattle, San Fran, DC, or some other city? It's obvious, but keep in mind that your options of things to do drastically declines once you leave NYC.
