My wife and I are looking for a SUV or truck and these really caught our eye. It test drives better than a Explorer Sportrac, Jeep Wrangler, or Nissan Titan. I am just a little worried they are expensive to own, e.g. mechanical, tires, (I know gas is always a factor with these). Can someone give me a Pros & Cons? T.I.A.

Cons: They're huge, overpriced, chug gas and scream mid-life crisis. There has to be better options out there. My opinion only-take it for what it's worth. :)

I love them...if you don't care about the gas issue I think they are great. I am a huge Jeep Wrangler fan too… But they definitely are a little bouncy.

I'm only 37. I really hope this isn't my mid-life....My brother is 47 just bought a used Mazda Miata, that is the mid-life crisis car. Thanks for the response though.

Just kidding. I like them, but would much rather have a jeep wrangler all things considered.

Lexus RX > Anything you mentioned or anyone else has mentioned and you can get parts for it and if for some reason you don't care for it, you can sell it and get most of your money back. RX Hybrid takes the gas RX to another level entirely.

I was going to say that the Hummer is a small penis compensator, but it looks like someone beat me to it.

You might look cool leaning against it in the parking lot smoking a cigarette.

Um, you only live once. If you're not screwing up your life or someone else's life, go for it.

The Hummer H3 is the smaller version of the H2. I mainly work with electrical on vehicles and these are nightmares. Will have many issues with these over time. I would definitely suggest a different vehicle. Once again, these are just my experiences with them.

Thanks, that is more or less what I was asking for. I cant afford any of the other vehicles suggested above or else I would go with those! This is a 06 with 100k for $12,999 in Denver. Its below the market price for them, but still....its been discontinued.

Thanks everybody.....and about the small penis thing....guilty! But she doesn't know any better...ha ha ha ha.

If you have $13K to spend and 100K doesn't bother you, then you have enough money for a real car, AKA, an RX. Also, think about repair bills, the Hummer will have 'em, in spades. So if money really is a concern, get something better to start with.

Every time I see a person other than someone wearing military fatigues getting out of a Hummer, I chuckle. I can't help it. I think you're setting yourself up for getting laughed at if you buy a Hummer.

You've been a good sport, BludRed, for laughing along with those in this thread.

You must not care about the Climate. Ask yourself this before buying: What about the Polar Bears?

I had an H2. Loved it. Was great going up to Tahoe with the family. Got 17 mpg in it too.

Have always wanted an H1 wagon. Someday.

I walked into the gym a few years back after driving my Ferrari there. A skinny older tool at the gym I sort of knew walks up and goes "mid life crisis?!" thinking he was funny. I didn't break stride and replied "small cock". Haha.

Used 4-Runners are really cheap, at least around Omaha, and will last 4-ever :)

H3 is basically a Chevy Colorado converted to an SUV. GM quality (or lack thereof) with no dealer support....take a pass.

I guess I am too stupid to post a pic. I thought i would be able to copy and paste it. And before you tell me to upload it to some sort of file sharing site, I will stop you. That is way too much effort to show off my awesome wife. Sorry. We are now looking at a Ford Explorer and a Ford Edge. Thanks to those who contributed to this. You guys are the best. BludRed

This will make you want one, then not want one, then want one, then...
