Granted I picked it because of the name, but is it good? Not looking for anything special (fish wise, although I would like to catch a shark), I was tasked to give someone a deep sea fishing experience for their anniversary, wife is not going. Booked it for mid April.

have no idea about any charters, a friend of mine has a boat that we take out a few times a year. you stand a good chance at catching a shark anywhere in the gulf though. nearly every time i go out we will hook up to some type of shark. last time i caught a 7 foot tiger shark only about 15 miles out. didn't know that they were that common in the gulf.

But there were several Tigers caught off the piers and a few in the surf on the panhandle last year. Shark fishing at night is very popular down here, just kayak a fresh cut mackerel, lady fish, or bluefish past the second sand bar in the summer and by morning you'll get a run.

we did buy a boat from him a few years ago. Bought one of his 26' Shamrock open fisherman, fished in it for a few years, upgraded motor, etc., put it back on the market and he bought it back. He seems to be a pretty good guy but maintains his boats exceptionally well. You should do fine with him. He knows the area and where to fish offshore.
