Guys, I'm in Orange Beach stuck at Lulu's tourist trap, because of a family member's wishes. This place blows; I gotta commandeer the dining coordination. Do any of you have some good non-tourist trap dining suggestions that's good for the whole fam damily? Any and all (non-smartass) suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Cobalt, Doc's in OB (not GS bc everything there is hot garbage except Papa Roc's), Cosmo's, the tin roof, etc.

My boss lives in Orange Beach and introduced me to the Brick and Spoon which has top notch breakfast/brunch/lunch fare. Great food and great morning style cocktails. If you like Bloody Mary's this is your place as they have a menu w/ about 100 different ways to make one.

Agree with Cobalt and Cosmos, I think they have some shared ownership. Bravo Tacos is a good place to grab some to go grub.

The Tacky Jacks out on the far west side of Gulf Shores/Ft Morgan was as unimpressive as can be when we went last month. They had fresh seafood, but when they top it and surround it with Sysco canned sides and sauces- it kinda negates the whole 'fresh caught' appeal of the fish.

Maybe they were off their game that day/week and had run out of scratch-made sauces and sides? Yeah, maybe that happened.

Orange beach is tough for good food. Lagniappe and Gratzie and Bravo Tacos are the only places I've found to be better than decent. Cobalt and tackie jack are ok for touristy places.

Tacky jacks food is, and always has been, awful. It is just "the place" to go. The atmosphere is awesome but the food isnt good.

I think cobalts food is pretty good. Awesome atmosphere too

Best PoBoys in the area are under the Pensacola bridge (Brian's PoBoys). Have to get it to go though unless you want to eat on a picnick table under a tarp.
Gotta have one every time I'm down there.

beach eats....

Acme Oyster House (close to Lulus); The Point in Innerrarity Point (my very favorite). There's a new outdoor place just before you cross the bridge heading to FL. It's on the right going East and has a simply name (the gulf?) Anyway, you will see it. Best Bloody Mary and Grouper Sandwich on the coast.

I had one of the best meals ever at Lagniappe at the start of this summer. It was the one of the grouper dishes.

Lagniappe is the only place I've been to in Gulf Shores that I think would kill it even if it wasn't in a tourist town. Everytime I've been there but one the food has been good or really good.

Big Fish, The Gulf - there are a ton of really good dining options.

Can you elaborate on some more because I end up there a decent amount and have given up on trying to find good places. I've never even heard of these two though.

Checked them out online and I actually have driven by Big Fish, just haven't tried it.

I like Cosmos. The pecan crusted redfish is good as previously mentioned. If you want some get it to go food for the condo, go to Moe's Original bbq.

I've heard that the Gulf is awesome. Outdoor dining on the beach just west of the Pass bridge. Fairly new, I think.

A little travel involved, but Joe Patti's (Pensacola) has a restaurant that is AWESOME. I think it has weird hours though.

If you want non-tourist fine dining then Fisherman's Corner is the best place in the area. It's not super kid friendly and it's kinda small, but they take reservations and the food is amazing.

We have also been going to ACME lately, pretty good with a fair price and real kid friendly. Other than that the touristy places are all pretty good except we avoid Lulu's like the plague.
