Could've sworn Carol Channing died.

nope not yet

when you see the list one realizes as bad as this year was, its pretty much going to be the norm going forward if you include sports and music world

Not really. You listed Kirk Douglas, Betty White & a bunch of old people.

The top sports legends in boxing (Muhammed Ali) golf (Arnold Palmer), hockey (Gordie Howe), & WBB (Pat Summitt). All were lost this year.

That's a bigger deal than Carol Channing & Nanette Fabray checking out.

So shall we have an death pool? Say 5 or ten of us play. We draft it like a fantasy football team. Everybody gets 5 old actors actresses, first to have some one die wins.

My money is Doris Day going first.

Saaaaaayyyy....

That gives me an idea...

I kid you not a buddy started one in Hoboken, maybe 10 years ago when a bunch of young-ish famous people died in a short period of time (not quite like this year), and Charlie Sheen had the best (worst?) odds at the time haha!

I think we need to get a Dead Pool started. My money's on Tupac coming back, being killed again, then putting out 14 more albums, 3 movies, and a cook book.

Exaggerate much? Ali was the greatest, but after that... c'mon.
Solid case can be made for each of them. Palmer changed the nature of golf. Howe was legendary from pre-modern era to the modern era. Only Gretzky really challenges him for all time great. And with Summitt, that's not really in question.

Personally, I think Nicklaus was the best golfer ever, and Gretzky the best hockey player, but Palmer and Howe are knocking on the door, and in terms of legends of their games, you can certainly make a case that they are #1.

Nanette Fabray - 96 years old born October 20, 1920

“Nobody Ever Died For Dear Old Rutgers” came from the Broadway play High Button Shoes that established the careers of Phil Silvers, Nanette Fabray, Joey Faye and choreographer Jerome Robbins. Silvers played a con artist in the year 1913 who bets heavily against Rutgers and then goes to their locker room at halftime to convince them to stop giving it the old college try against rival Princeton (that’s what the song’s about). He loses as Rutgers wins 40-0.

The Targum of October 7, 1947 talked about the plot, “…Fran, sister to Mrs. Longstreet in the play, is in love with Hubert Oglethorpe, a rich football player whose philosophy is ‘I don’t want to die for Rutgers – I just want to go to classes twice a week – although sometimes I’d rather die.’”

Kind of stretching from core aspect of your list though.

That's also a list of people that didn't get hooked on cocaine. Carrie Fisher relapsed and her heart gave out.

It's a hell of a drug.
