For those that don't know what it is. Honor Flight takes a one day trip to Washington DC to see all the war memorials. They take WWII and Korean War Vets and its at no cost to them. Paid for completely by the USO and donations.
My son is in Air Force JROTC at his high school here in Lexington, SC. They were asked to provide a Saber Arch entrance for a returning Honor Flight into Columbia, SC airport last night. I decided to tag along, thought it might be pretty cool.
I don't think I have ever been more humbled in my life than when those vets came through the terminal. To see those old men with tears in their eyes and how proud they were to see all these people cheering, band playing, flags waiving. Makes you proud to be an American.
If you ever get the chance to go to one of these, don't pass up the opportunity. Alright, I know that's not sports related, but I thought it was damn worth mentioning. Sorry General.
