If you are Hunter Dickinson you probably aren’t playing in the NBA. Your highest value as a basketball player is right now.

This may seem on the surface good news to get him out of the conference, but this is a guy Cliff has competed against for 2 years. If I am Cliff and I see my peer get 7 figured I am going to want the same.
For Cliff I think this is a non-factor. There’s a ton of coordination involved for international students. Didn’t Pike announces he’s on this with the possible trip to the Bahamas? We would be playing in that tournament specifically for this purpose. Pike usually avoids those events like the plague.

It would be hard for another team to jump in and set a NIL thing up for Cliff. Takes a ton of coordination to make it work abroad from what I understand.

Terps hiring his hs coach

I highly doubt that this hire is being done specifically for the purposes of luring Hunter Dickinson, though. It's for the De Matha connection (one which Maryland has failed significantly with since the turn of the century), and for a well-connected DMV-born guy.

It's an amazing hire by Willard, in my opinion. As valuable as Tony Skinn (who Jones is replacing) was, I think this man is even more valuable...

Cliff is incompetent offensively and got eaten alive playing hunter one on one
in the first meeting last year this was true.. in the second meeting Cliff did better but got abused by refs and was in foul trouble. Dick~ got his points mostly off backups and his ever-present HOOKS. Hunter Dick~ hooks his defender and then gets a foul call off his hook... crazy.

Agreed and I still don’t see Dickinson happening, but Jones is a grand slam hire. He’ll be a HC in 1-2 years somewhere.

Yeah.

It hadn't occurred to me, but although he's not a big name yet, I think Jones would have been a better choice for Georgetown than Cooley, who has no DMV ties. He could probably have gotten a lot of kids to stay home...

Were they even in the initial discussion about potential landing spots? It's almost like they are just waiting in the wings, saying, "That's all they offered you?! We can do a little better than that." Well, at least he's out of our hair now.
Iirc, I was hearing Kansas as a possibility from the beginning. They needed another 5. Self likes to play through his 5 and I'd expect HD to get more opportunities to shoot threes. Good spot for him.

I don’t really remember KU being discussed as much as the other group, but that makes a lot of sense. I am happy to not see him in our league anymore.

That was cringey...though we would have loved every second of it if the ending was RU ;)

Just glad he's out of the B1G

At least he's making announcement now.

RHJ released an equally cringe video about returning to RU but waited until the last possible minute before the draft withdrawal deadline.

Maybe we're just old and this is what kids do nowadays.
It all stated with that PSU kicker jumping out of a plane for his commitment announcement.
