As much as I can't stand UConn I'm kind of surprised they were not the choice, given the sway bball holds in the ACC. Is BC still vetoing them? Is the ACC just wowed by the $$?

Assuming FSU and Clemson to SEC at some point and possibly UNC and a friend (Duke/UVA) to B1G, is the ACC plan just to raid the AAC?

Actually, I am waiting to see what happens to the original Top Dog B1G teams now that UCLA, USC, Washington and Oregon will be entering the field. After all there will only be one conference champion. Some of the top competitive teams may decline into just an average program(beat each other up).

Sometimes it may be better to rule in the ACC than serve in the B1G/SEC. LOL!!!!

I think UConn still has potential as a back fill candidate for a conference addition.

UConn is still tied into the New York City Nielsen Market via Fairfield County Ct. Fairfield county alone accounts for over 35% of Conn population and UConn is the State University. Somewhat similar to Rutgers NJ tie into the New York market.

If the ACC needed to add a couple of teams they can raid the Big 12 (WVU comes to mind) or get Oregon State/Washington State to balance out the West Coast.

See how thing play out.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Clandestine and SMU. Checks out!

Interesting…i know they have big big money alum…but they are at best the 5th most popular program in the DFW area…shows how money trumps most other considerations.

The playoffs are moving to 12 teams next year. The SEC and the B1G will make sure they get the lions share of them or they will split off eventually. That will allow for many more happy programs… at least in the P2.

Yep. Expect both the B1G and SEC to get at minimum 3-4 playoff teams each a year with the Big 12 and ACC Champs getting 1 in along with the top ranked G5 school.

I've said it here before whether it was the B12, ACC or PAC (before it fell apart) it's an opportunity to be seized for those schools to raise themselves up. Just like TCU or Cincy or whomever. You're still largely competing with schools that have the same resources as you but you'll have essentially an autobid (5 or 6 highest conference champs) into the playoffs. That's a great vehicle to raise your profile.

Also yes the B10/SEC will get a bunch of bids but I wouldn't assume it's not possible for the B12 or ACC to get 2 bids in a given year. So it's possibly even more of an opportunity for those lower status schools.

I've said down the line the ACC should look to add UCF/WVU and possibly UConn (maybe even Cincy) if/when they end up losing schools to the B10/SEC. Geographically they fit better into the ACC.

Your expectations are admired.

Hopefully the next 10 years for the B1G will show more improvement than the past 10 years in which the B1G only one 1 National Title in football and none in Basketball.

The last 10 years saw the ACC win 6 National Titles (3 in Football and 3 in Basketball).

TCU did beat the B1G Champion last year and Pitt did beat UCLA.

It is fun to speculate.

Yet, Pitt and every other ACC school would kill for an invitation to the B1G. Unfortunately for you, it ain’t coming. The closest Pitt will come to the P2 is your occasional visit to this board.

The mid level B1G schools like Iowa and Wisconsin would win 9+ games in the ACC.

in the last 10 years only twice did Iowa win less than 8 in the B1G
That, to me , shows the Hawkeyes would do better in the ACC than you might think.
Now a days minor bowl wins don't mean as much as they did years ago
because of players opting out so they can get ready for the draft and not risk injury

Other than a minority of Cult fans, I don't see that being a real issue in the B1G.

The major difference is Fairfield County 1) generally don't support UConn and 2) unlike Middlesex County where RU is, doesn't share a border with NYC.

I just think UConn overall has more fans and more TV eyes, and from an ACC perspective, is obviously strong at the sport that counts most in that conference. UConn brings more credibility IMO but I guess they don't bring $$$.

That and BC and maybe even Cuse is blocking them...even the slightest competition could plunge either into further depths.
